I was freezing this past weekend while rock hunting, but I had a great time with my son! Nobody was at the beach with us...a perk of the windy cold!
This is one of my favorites from this past weekend. I'm not really sure what it is. It just has so many interesting things going on. I took lots of pictures of this one and shared some of the best...trying to capture the detail in the rock from several different angles.
The first image reminds me of a Cowrie shell. But the overall form does not look right.

What do you think?
I see what you are saying with the "teeth" part. I think those might be found in another part of the world. I'm not really sure though.
Way cool! I'm glad you're liking your new lens. ;)
I really am!
Very cool find! Awesome on the new lens!
posted here! Perhaps squished and some other
matrix with it when it fossilized? This stone sure looks like the shell @sooflauschig
How big is it?
It is about an inch long. I have not weighed it yet.
Absolutely awesome find and great detail! What are you using for the closeup? Looks like a loupe :) It's definitely some type of fossil and I think @sooflauschig is close to identifying it! @bitfiend
Thank you! I bought a new macro lens...and I love it!! It is really helping to get more of the detail in my pictures.
