Why IVAN on Tech and the Roger ver Interview was a complete disaster!

in #rogerver7 years ago

DISCLAIMER I:

I like BTC, Bitcoin over Bitcoin Cash

DISCLAIMER II:

I like Ivan On Tech, I think doing what he does, all in all does good for the community and adoption

DISCLAIMER III:

I am invested in Bitcoin and NOT in Bitcoin cash

DISCLAIMER VI:

Yes, Bitcoin and bitcoin cash are very confusing to the new, hence I prefer calling Bitcoin cash, Bcash

I am going to be doing a break down of the entire interview and show where this interview was one of the worst, least nuanced and down right lazy! The amount of preparation that went into this interview from Ivan's side was quite appalling! When you are interviewing such a controversial, public figure in the community, you are at least expected to study up a little bit before and know how to ask questions, know what questions are important. This interview was an opportunity to make things clear to get why BCH exists and why there was a need to make a fork..nope, nothing at all!

It for the most part felt like
Ivan: Question 1
Roger: Statement 1
Ivan: Question 2
Roger: Statement 2
Ivan: Please like and comment on this view

There was no response given even if statement 1, 2 were completely wrong or misleading! It was painful to watch, yes one of the worst! And I get it, most of these Youtube "Celebs" haven't going through the process of learning how one asks good questions and counter when a fallacy is thrown...youtube personalities have just "landed" into that role, but that shouldn't make them escape critique!

Lets get into it!

Watch the entire train wreck here:

What brought you to Bitcoin? (1:35)
What was your epiphany buying moment? (2:35)
What exactly did you invest in at the beginning? (3:57)

All well and good! We get to know Roger's BTC history and how he got into it!

how were you involved in Bitcoin development? (6:00)
Roger brings to light there are two types of developers, business and software and how he has mostly been at the business end! Great work! He clearly has been promoting BCH for the past one year or so!

At one point did you notice Bitcoin needed to fork? (7:25)
This is where Roger brings, Bitcoin Unlimited and SetWit

Roger says:

With SegWit2X was a bait and switch...Segwit didnt have more than 30% hashrate and that is when Bitcoin unlimited has more than 50%. Essentially he says, there was deal between SetWit and Bitcoin Unlimited people that we do the bigger blocks and have SegWit, but SegWit comes first...and then the switch! The SegWit community was not interested into making the blocks bigger..

Bitcoin Unlimited (BU) wanted to increase the block size from 1MB to 8MB, this was also the BIP 100 who initially turned to BTC

IVAN:

Silence
No response about how BU was backstabbed, or how Segwit never got the support it was looking for. No question on how what happened to BU was not fair, they proposed the solution only when the in July 2015 noticed the average block size had bloated to 70%, which is totally fair!

When did you feel sentiment towards you changed? (10:00)
What is an example of censorship? (12:00)
Who is censoring posts? (13:00)

Roger says:

There is a lot of censorship happening, in r/bitcoin and other BTC forums where they have no way to get their voices heard. [YES, this is a fact]

IVAN:

yes, maybe there is censorship, maybe there isn't [NO, there is censorship!] Why is this fact being shown as an opinion!!

Yes, BTC is censored in BCH forums, and vice-verse! [THAT is a fact, there should be no denying that] The mods and the power that be control this stuff, and they are not interested in learning about what the other 'team' has to say.

Roger says:

NOT MAYBE! It is being done! [Happy Roger corrects this, cause he was on the right here]

IVAN:

umm

What is the incentive for Bitcoin Core? Why are they against your mission? (13:40)
What kind of action do/did you take to try to make changes for Bitcoin? (15:50)

Roger says:

He is a libertarian and is interested in what BCH is has to offer, not money but as a instrument of taking us away from more to less government! "More libertarians are interested in BCH"

IVAN's Responce:

umm

FALLACY 1:

There is no way to say what libertarians like, or even interested..the fact they Roger puts a number figure on this, like saying most* libertarians IS WRONG!

What other actions did you take to make your Bitcoin visions come true? was there anything else besides Bitcoin Cash? (18:00)

Roger says:

BitcoinXT was the first thing he worked with, to improve bitcoin! He got massive support, even from Coinbase, this is very true! Read here
http://bitcoinist.com/coinbase-tests-bitcoin-xt-removed-bitcoin-org/

Brian Armstrong 1![]

Brian Armstrong 2

But BitcoinXT was dropped! It was dropped by Coinbase!

IVAN:

umm

Misconceptions about Bitcoin Core and Bitcoin Cash (21:30-23:20)

Roger says:

He is against Tone vays, and that transaction fees was $50

Ivan says:

But that was too early, SegWit was not activated and there wasn't enough time, Coinbase didn't have SegWit.

Roger says:

Bitcoin.org (BTC) has a list of business that supported SegWit at the time! And they were basically "Listed every business"

FALLACY 2

Ivan says:

Those business were in support of the idea of SegWit, and not ACTUALLY implemented.

THIS is correct, fortunately there was not much space to get into conflict!

Why do miners want bigger blocks and not segwit? (confusing question) (23:45)

Ivan says:

Miners want bigger blocks, and don't like SegWit, cause SegWit removed the idea of an ASIIC boost

Roger says:

People are using ASIIC boost on bitcoin core from Slushpool, he says this is not the case..all the . software is open source and very transparent!

Then there is a rant about spreading and amount of work he + his friends are doing towards bitcoin

Roger says:

"90% of people on Bitcoinocracy.com are in support of bigger block"

FALLACY 3

Yes this might be true, but little did one check Bitcoinocracy.com is a subdomain of guess what...bitcoin.com (BCH site), in fact if you go to that website, they just redirect to https://vote.bitcoin.com/

IVAN:

umm

Roger says:

Miners are loving that the fees are so high! And BCH is the solution, Name drops a bunch of places that accept BCH

FALLACY 4

[This is true, but no! All those places and more also accept Bitcoin, BTC is 20x more accepted than BCH, thats just a fact]

IVAN Response:

Yes great, Like and subscribe the channel

How come Bitcoin Core followers are good at spreading their message and convincing people? (27:00)

IVAN:

People say you are a scammer, maybe thats true and maybe not....BTC people are convincing that you are a scammer!

Roger says:

BTC people have been very effective with their propaganda, BTC wallet app reviews are false reviews, BTC hired sock puppets, BTC is censoring everything

IVAN:

umm

What is your vision? why are you doing this? (29:20)

Roger:

He talks about philosophy, and wants people to have everyone financial freedom! [Great stuff, clearly sees that BTC and BCH both have the same goals..they only differ in the mechanism that goal can/will be achieved]

Why do you think people are negative towards Bitmain? What can they do better to improve their image? (30:10)

Roger:

Bitmain has doing tons of good! All their software is free and open source, anyone can open a miner with their code.

Where can you draw the line to use the Bitcoin name? (31:35)

IVAN:

I can start my own bitcoin, whats important about the name

Roger:

BCH is the true bitcoin and the same talk about the white-paper.. BCH is the true vision

FALLACY 5!!

A huge fallacy, Ivan should be objecting this, the white-paper is actually open to interpretation bigger block or not and side chain solutions or not...both can be bitcoin and none can be, the true "Vision" doesn't matter. This was a paper written when ASIICs where not even around...Satoshi didnt even know such chips could be made to mine bitcoin!

IVAN:

He just goes off on a tangent about user confusion
Is it hurting the ecosystem that Bitcoin Core and Bitcoin Cash use similar names? (33:55)

Roger:

Repeating himself, he wants the confusion to be gone and how BCH should be everywhere.

How is the adoption for Bitcoin Cash? (35:38)

Roger:

He tries to give free BCH using paper wallets, [I think at this point Roger knows he has Ivan by the balls, not a single comment is being questioned by Ivan and is mostly being received by Umms ]
Is Dogecoin more adopted than Bitcoin Cash? (36:27)
Quite a stupid question to ask in the first place, Doge isn't even in the question, not even close to what BCH is on volume and price and transactions! Volume is everything, BCH is 75x bigger than Doge...just a stupid thing to ask.

How is the Bitcoin Cash community going? How do you prevent what happened to Bitcoin Core to happen to Bitcoin Cash? (39:00)

Roger:

He doesn't know about people and how the community can take a direction. He talks censorship again from Bitcoin and reddit. He offers $250,000 to anyone who hires a better mod on r/bitcoin subreddit

IVAN:

"Yayyyy"

Where we will we see Bitcoin Cash vs Bitcoin Core in a year? (42:13)

Roger:

Talks how one is useful and one isn't, also criticises the lightening network, Specially notes there are only 15 BTC on the lightening network

FALLACY 5 and FALLACY 6

the number is arbitrary and unimportant and the usage is wrongly proposed, Even if take 15 BTc..yes thats 120000, and LN is proposed for small and quick transactions that need not be propagated over the blockchain. What did Ivan have to say?

IVAN:

"Silence"

Ethereum could be the #1 currency (43:40)
Why did Bitcoin Core remove opcodes? (44:20)

Roger:

ETH will overtake BTC and eventually BCH will overtake ETH...like WHAT!??! NO basis, no facts, no arguments..The network has decided, BCH is 1/7th the value of BTC!
Roger talks more propaganda about why BCH and not BTC..

IVAN :

Take a tangent on ETH

Why are you so passionate about the name Bitcoin Cash instead of BCash? (46:00)

IVAN :

Ivan talks about why he flipped out during an interview..

Roger:

Talks about naming, he talks about how he was too upset about being triggered..and how there is a nice way to talk about the name Bcash or bitcoin cash..
[TO be fair, thats perhaps correct, the interview in question is a little vile and not mature not just roger but the other guy as well]

IVAN :

Like share comment yada yada

Is Craig Wright Satoshi? (49:00)

Roger :

Thats not a simple answer, Craig has is philosophy is the right place and that is why he supports him

FALLACY 7

[Roger doesn't really answer the question, but he takes a tangent on how BCH has the right way of doing this]

what are your thoughts on Vitalik's thoughts on Craig Wright not being Satoshi?(49:45)
What is your relationship with Craig? (50:40)

Roger :

All this narrative is propaganda, Haven't met Craig in a while and MCAfee but likes all their philosophy.

FALLACY 8

[Roger avoid the question again, and talks about how the aspect of freedom is amazing]

IVAN :

Ummm

Is Bitcoin Cash centralised? Why are there so few people (developers) engaged with Bitcoin Cash? (52:23)

Roger :

Talks again about the propaganda from BTCs side, BCH is well and dandy..talks about Github and the amount of action thats happening on BCH. But admits, BTC has a lot more developers working on it.
[Notice, he misses the centralised aspect of the question]
He talks about decentralisation is not that needed and necessary..[Core division from BTCs vision, that their main aspect is to be decentralised]

IVAN :

Ummm

Are hard forks a bad solution for updates? (54:45)

Roger :

Why is forking bad, ETC has done so well since it split from ETH.

IVAN :

He doesn't like forks..and when you are making DApps on the network, a fork cant be nice the people who made the DApp.

Is there a risk with hard forks to split the community? (57:30)

Roger :

Forks are nice, there is nothing wrong with them...BCH community has grown a lot more than the BTC community

FALLACY 9

[YES! Thats because BCH didn't exist before than, and so of course it has grown faster, Snapchat grew 10x faster than facebook..but thats a stupid argument]
Monero splits and hard forks many times, talks about how the fork word should be replaces with Software upgrade.

IVAN :

Ummm

Are users actually forced to follow hard forks? (58:15)
Soft forks Vs Hard forks, Roger says he doesn't like soft forks..since the entire network has no choice and is dragged along with the new chain rules..[True libertarian gotta say, likes choice and doesn't like powers that be]

IVAN :

Hard forks are more harsh, and soft fork aren't that forcing in the sense.

Rogers demonstration for Bitcoin Cash giveaway (1:01:00)

Yayy free money! upto $110

What do you think about the future of tokens and having millions of different tokens? (1:04:00)
This is such an important question, but it was only saved for the last 2 minutes...eh! Whatever! Nothing useful comes of this
Roger doesn't agree with Andreas Antonopoulos, shocker!

When is the bull run? (1:05:30)
Do you see the need for turing completeness for Bitcoin Cash? (1:06:05)

Roger :

Everything you can do on ETH can be done on BCH....[LIKE WHAT>!!?!?!?]

IVAN :

But you can't do loops, it isn't turing complete..

Roger :

yeah but next update you will be able to do everything...everything that ETH does...
[Painful to hear this...]

ME: When interviewing someone, its the interviewee's responsibility to call bullshit and not just be a doorknob when asking questions, conversation cannot flow from question to question, its a dialog and a flow! That was not the case here, and hence a terrible job! A very long opportunity that Ivan could have used to clear the community but that was a nogo.
I love youtube and the amount of content it has produced from creators, but youtube personalities should not be help to a great standard, just cause they have pretty backgrounds and fancy animations!
