So I wanted to to a whole series of steemit posts going through the points and others about roger ver in his vid.
Doug recently started a discussion of his video in r/btc, so I replied there.
this is the original thread:
and here is dougs video:

Here is my answer to him:
I agree with you in the r/btc r/bitcoin debate, and do not like group thinking really. Also r/btc is probably misnamed right now, they should switch names with r/bitcoin, would be more fitting. Anyway, it just developed this way.
I disliked your video although I understand your intention to be entertaining and getting attention from the masses.
Your video was called "The TRUTH about Roger Ver" before you renamed it. There are SO many lies going on about Roger on twitter and what not, and you chose to dig for anything you can take out of context against him.
In general, I think Roger is really unfairly treated because of group thinking of hating on him and also the plain lies and exagerations that are being told about him. Did you see some of the pictures? I am pretty sure he is not the devil himself and actually a decent human being (although I do not know him, just my impression).
To your points:
Roger doxing someone over $50 This one.. hard to see this being taken out of context, sound ridicolous to me, he should not have done that. It probably comes from his libertarian attitude and his thinking that he needs to protect himself and not call the police or something. Anyways, it is also long time ago, hope he learned from that.
Roger making directly hypocritical statements regarding segwit / lightning. Most from what I have heared is that Roger is a fan of lightning in general, just thinks it can also be done on a main chain that scales. I think it is very easy from the tons of statements he does everywhere to take something out of context and display it like he is insane or something. He also might exagerate and say something that he loves it just to get a point accross and so on. The quotes you cited, he probably was pointing out that we still need to also scale on chain and that the lightning network has problems... what is wrong about that?
Side note to lightning network.. for me to show this as a use as a scaling solution, it has to be first implemented by most merchants and exchanges and so on (see
this vid why that might be a problem i.e. ) And then it actually also needs to show that it can scale to billions of users were I see problems. ALSO the devs say that people should not use it right now, so no it is not ready and it will take probably years."Roger claiming to have sold > 1000BTC for BCH then saying he hasn't" pretty sure he was trying to get the point across, that he was not the one pumping the price from the start of bitcoin c ash to 0.5btc value as you can read so much about that on the internet. Every move bch makes.. oh roger buying bla bla.
Roger's correlation of calling bitcoin cash bcash like calling a minority a slur. He kind of corrected himself / explained how he meant it after jimmy song felt offended by that, seemed like jimmy was a bit calmed by that, you somehow left that out. ALSO you left out and displayed it like was the bcash thing that got him to freak out, while he was saying in his apologize (yes) video after it and several others that it was not him calling it bcash (still think it is rude after he explicitly said he felt offended by it) , but the fact that he repeated again another thing that goes around about roger, that he pays sock puppets. You could see through the whole vid that he got more and more angry and still calmed himself down, told the guy thats not true and that offends him.. and he said that again. I would have quit him along time before that.
Other points: Roger Ver reading of a script with the mt gox thing: He said he wrote it himself and wrote off of that and also he was shown money on the bank accounts of mt.gox, so he said that the reason there are delays in withdrawals, is not because of too little money in mt.gox. He never mentioned they are solvent. And also they might have fooled him, think he had reason to beleive what he read there at that point.
I also think he is right about the media campaign against bitcoin cash, just try to see it in this light for a while.
It is probably just my personality to side with a guy that I think everybody bullies up against and hence I tend to see things in the most positive light, but try to not assume the worst.
I think Roger Ver is an emotional man, that tries to be respectful to others. I think he has a very liberterian attitude and really thinks bitcoin cash is a way to help with that and thats why he promotes it and has bought it..end of story, he is not the inventor of some pump and dump scheme or whatnot.. He is also a human being and has flaws and has made mistakes in the past.
If one searches hard enough, one can find crap on anyone. In the bigblock/smallblock schism things have got to the point where ad-hominem has become the dominant debate form. It's very sad, I think.
Also, r/bitcoin is probably one of the heaviest moderated subreddits out there - the fact that ad-hominem-posts against Roger Ver, upvoted to the front page, is allowed to stay there without being removed by the moderators tells a long way that how illegitimate the current moderatorship is.
