I’ve been on Steemit for two weeks, so I’m not even sure I qualify for the Role Model thing, but I think I would be a good Steemit Role Model due to my creativity, enthusiasm, and passion for people who inspire each other.
Thanks @anomadsoul for offering up this contest.
My newbie take on Steemit:
As a platform, Steemit seems to give people from all walks of life a mostly-level playing ground where everything is on the blockchain, and being authentic is celebrated. Diversity makes us stronger, and I've made friends from all corners of the world since diving down this rabbit hole!
Here, you’re rewarded for being you, and for caring about others.
I can’t even describe how excited I am about this. It’s giving me renewed hope for the world!

Steemit says, “You do you. Contribute unique, quality content, be a supportive member of the community, and you will be rewarded.”
I am committed to contributing the highest quality content to Steemit.
To get an idea of who I am and the kind of content I create, check out my Adopt a Minnow Post, where I suggest a smaller marine mammal for us minnows to aspire to: the sea otter.
Steemit is like paradise to me, because I’ve been pumping out free content for over a decade, trying to eek out a living encouraging people to buy my books or come to a yoga class. On Steemit I don’t have to sell anything! It’s such a relief to not feel that pressure. And no more letdown of pouring my energy into a blog post that only five people read (as much as I appreciate those five people).
Steemit rewards people for caring about each other. The #RoleModel delegation, the #adoptaminnow movement, and the sheer amount of Steemians who sincerely want to help everyone succeed is nothing short of heartwarming.

On Steemit, I create quality content and people actually see it!
They even respond! The comments section is fabulous. :)
As a writer, as an artist, having people enjoy what I create and being able to connect with what they do — this kind of community is priceless. You can find your tribe here (or many tribes), and there’s tons of support.
It makes me so happy!
As an introvert in the outside world, accessing online community is huge for me. I have it on other levels in Twitter and Facebook, but those platforms don’t allow people to interact in the ways Steemit does. This place has replaced my blog and social sites in one go. Add in Discord groups, and the sense of community explodes!
More on my growing Steemit family to come...
My thoughts about earnings:
Steemit means I can stay home with my kids, do what I love — which is to write, to create — and earn something. I’m motivated to make this work for myself, and I want to help others succeed as well.
I've been working my *$$ off to make a splash, so to speak, and have put in a lot of time with about 300 posts in the first week, most of them being comments. I’ve used my SBD to power up, because I want my vote to count for more than .01. It’s frustrating to only be able to upvote ten-ish times a day, when I want to support so many people doing good things.
"Patience grasshopper."
Right?
Obviously, not everyone is a writer or has experience blogging, and not everyone has the same amount of time to devote to Steemit, but I do believe anyone who does their best putting out quality content and connecting with others in supportive ways can earn on Steemit. It is my mission to boost those who are doing so.
I’ve never voted for my own post or comment, but my vote doesn’t have much SP behind it, so I’ve never seen the point. I suppose there are certain strategies where upvoting your own post is worthwhile (helping it be seen, contributing to a contest payout, or upping the value of a post that will benefit a charity), but I’d rather vote on other people’s posts. I think there is more value in playing to the generosity of karma — what you give, you receive.
I want to have a vote with more SP behind it so I can contribute to Steemians who are earning less on deserving posts, and newbies just trying to get started. The more we encourage those who are just stepping into the Steemit sea to have fun and get involved, the better our global Steemit community becomes.

My Growing Steemit Family
Discord makes Steemit even more amazing, and between the two I’ve been making a ton of friends. If I were trying to do Steemit alone, without joining communities and creating genuine friendships, it wouldn’t be nearly as fun.
I found #TeamGirlPowa first, and some amazing people through that community including @limabeing, @sykochica, @thekittygirl, and @seyiodus (who also applied for Role Model status and probably deserves it way more than I do).
I’m committed to supporting women on Steemit, supporting the LGBTQ community and other diverse voices, as well as #teamcanada and #teamusa (my countries of citizenship). In my view, we all share one planet. No need for passports, we are citizens of Earth.
I’ve dipped my toes into many groups, such as #adsactly, Steemit Ramble and Steem Sugar, but haven’t been very active there yet, still trying to figure out what everything's about. (I’m only 2 weeks into this thing, there’s time.) I’ve also participated in #steemitbloggers, organized by @jaynie, and made some great friends there.
The group I’ve interacted with the most, though, is #thealliance.
Sometime in the blur of the last fortnight, I followed a trail to @thealliance. I knocked on the door in Discord, posted my application, and found myself adopted by a group that feels like family.
People like @enginewitty, @topkpop, @saffisara, and @tattoodjay have so much heart, and I feel the love. They’ve made me smile and laugh so much, and I’ve been immensely supported by #thealliance as a whole, so of course I’d like to return the kindness. I also appreciate that this family contributes to @youarehope (founded by @sircork) to provide humanitarian aid powered by Steem.

Should you pick me? Maybe not.
I’m a tiny plankton in a big sea, and though I'm dreaming of growing into a sea otter and maybe an orca one day, my guess is a more experienced Role Model would be better for this delegation of Steem power.
Perhaps delegating Steem power to those who already have weight behind them would give a more powerful punch, so to speak, and be a better strategy. What’s the difference in SP between dolphin and orca and whale? I just got here. What do I know?
Let me nominate a few more bright-star Steemians for Role Model delegation (please give it to them, they’ll do good things with it):
@gniksivart, for example, who is an OCD curator and wrote this great Role Model application.
@enginewitty, who recently set himself up as a witness and is one of the driving forces behind #thealliance.
@topkpop, who hosts fun contests with artistic flair and adds positivity to #thealliance and Steemit as a whole.
That said, if you choose to reward a newbie with delegation, maybe I’d be a good pick. I would do my best to use my votes in the interest of the community as a whole, encouraging people to be who they are, and be good to each other.
Peace. @katrina-ariel

Oh Wow ! I had no idea it’s only been a solid two weeks since you’ve joined. For myself it’s been about 2 months, & I enjoy the community a lot! Here you can’t get away with being phoney like regular social media— the currency is in the authenticity! Dont feel bad about upvoting your own content either! It all goes back into the platform & I feel you’ve got to vote for yourself before anyone else gets the bulk of your energy. Whales upvote their own posts all the time, unapologetically. Still sharing what they have to give to others, only because their overflowing with value that they’ve given to themselves!
I enjoy steemit & would love to have this platform to use for investments along with growing a network & community of beings with similar desires & goals. I also have a trigger upvoting finger, Definitely upvote at least 30 posts when I put time into it LOL
Thanks so much for the sweet comment, with some wise words as well—I'd expect nothing less from you. :)
So grateful to have met you here, @esaia.mystic. You're an inspiration!!!
You really like to take pictures of yourself and that tree don't you? ;)
Best of luck. You're just as deserving as myself or anyone else on the platform so don't discount yourself just for being new. Experience is a very small part to being a role model.
You're so sweet, thank you! If I get the delegation I'll be voting on some of the gems you find and curate. :)
Yes, I have a ton of yoga photos, lots of them include trees. They make me happy.
That would be much appreciated if you won and did that :D
It's all about uplifting each other! :)
Looks like you won!? Or did you already have the SP delegated?
A beautiful, sweet, upbeat, honest, and powerful post. Love your enthusiasm and great spirit.
Well, thank you so much! What a kind comment, you've made me smile. Glad to meet you @shevans. Steem on! :)

Your welcome 😎👍😎
Greeat introduceyourself @katrina-ariel. Warm Welcome from me.

Thank you, kindly! :)
Wow, this is great. I just came across steemit accidentally on social media. I have been looking for communities to join but all to no avail. I only thought of following people from trend. Pls i will appreciate if you can link me up with any community. Thanks. I have been on steemit since 2 months now but no gain and i feel discourage everytime. Thanks
Community is key. Any of the ones I mentioned in my post are great. Just follow links to Discord and get a feel for what's there. The Minnow Support @msp3k in the comments here has a link to the P.A.L. discord group below their comment. You might check them out, or #Steemitbloggers, or any other. Good luck to you! :)
welcome welcome! i'm certain that you will have a massive impact here on the platform!
@TeamHumble?! lol! I love it. Thank you for the warm welcome. I hope to contribute my best here. :)
You are definitely role model material! Very nice to meet you! <3
Also stopping by to say that you have been featured and curated for MSP Community Curation: Top Five 'Positive PAL Posts' - Week #05
https://steemit.com/community/@creativesoul/msp-community-curation-top-five-positive-pal-posts-week-05
Thank you so much for finding this and considering it worthy of curation! Huge gratitude!
Liking your handstands and backbend on the tree. i'm still not quite sure how to find the groups. Is there a list of groups? Or do I have to randomely come accross them? A yoga group would be very useful for me. I will look at teamgirlpower too.
Thanks! So glad you like the yoga photos. :) For some of the groups you need to do some sluthing, and follow trails on Steemit till you find a way in. For others, it's as simple as clicking a link. The Team Girl Powa banner on this post goes to the Discord group. There's a link to the PAL discord on @msp3k's comment above.
Once you find discord groups, be sure to read the intro material (different in each group,) and say hello! Most of these groups are about participation. All you have to do is be genuine, support people doing things that interest you, and keep making friends. I agree, a yoga group would be great. :) Good luck to you!
thanks for the info.
This is a great post and I hope you'll find your lucky Minnow Parent!
Thank you so much, @soyrosa. :)
Ohhh wow just amazing
Happy to see you here
I really like yoga.i want to learn from you.
Warmly welcome here
What a great post! Cheers, my dear, wishing you all the luck and love!
PS: My son is a musician too :))
PS1: I'm one who doesn't have much time (or Internet bandwidth here where I live) to spend on Steemit.
PS2: Up, follow and resteem!
You had me at "dragon rider"! Great content! Keep it up!
lol! We dragon lovers tend to find each other. :) Glad to meet you here!
haha! Seems like it! Happy to meet you to! :)
Thank you for your post. I agree with you, steemit is a great place over the world. I send you a venezuelan Hug from Argentina.
Your are welcome to my spot anytime you want.
Gracias for the hug. I would love to visit that corner of the world sometime. Namaste. :)
Thanks for posting! I just joined Steemit, and I found your post inspirational - to get out there, really engage with the community, and meet new people. Good luck in all of life's adventures!
Welcome to Steemit! Yes, engaging with community can make Steemit way more fun! So glad you got something worthwhile from this post. :)
everything we see, touch, hear, tell ourselves, everything is food for our soul. This is why I love Steemit. I feel like i am a a universal grocery store picket the ripest, succulent fruit to feed my appetite for inspiration. I feel good promoting and sharing with others. yay
Ok, I'm here (late, but who's counting?) because @catweasel found your post and included it in one of our common ventures. (I really must find myself a better class of accomplice.) Because I have to do all the work around here, I'm just now finding time to read it -- while my layabout associate "has a little nap." When our contract renews, I'm going to make some changes, believe you, me.
Meanwhile, I wish you well in your endeavors on Steemit, but frankly you have way too much energy. And optimism. I must leave here quickly before too much rubs off on me. It may already be too late. The air is thick with it in here. Srsly. (And when you wonder why this is several days late in arriving, look back a few sentences and see which one of us is "having a little nap.")
Sooo -- better late than never, this excellent post was included in our new curation effort The Magnificent Seven -- a collaborative work by @enchantedspirit and @catweasel. You have received a 100% upvote from each of us to show our appreciation for your post. To see your creation showcased here ... and the fine company you keep ... please visit this link.
We appreciate your support both for our work on this project and for the other creators of exceptional content who make it all possible. (Follow @catweasel to catch our future Magnificent Seven posts. He's really not as annoying as you might think. <--- He always makes me say that. But he is. He really is.)
lol! @enchantedspirit, you two crack me up! Thanks so much for finding my post worthy of mention in the Magnificent Seven. A wonderful curation effort you both do there (even if he's raiding the fridge while you're doing all the work.) And, yes, sorry about all that energy and optimism. I do have an inner cynic, I just try to keep it under control while on Steemit. Best foot forward and all that. ;)
What is really going on here is that @enchantedspirit is too lazy to raid the fridge herself so I have to raid and eat for two.
Trust me, I'm a doctor.
I knew you'd find some self-serving way to make yourself sound altruistic. What are you doing in here anyway? I'm deliberately commenting on old posts, hoping to avoid you and your nonsense. (Also, your notice, which isn't usually this hard.) Aren't there some left-overs calling your name?
Oh, yeah. I owe you an upvote. Here. Now leave me alone.
You have collected your daily Power Up! This post received an upvote worth of 0.56$.

wow, you do great stuff and yes, it takes some time until it really rock - but, hey, this post is already at 45.
Means you do some things quite well
Stay focussed and have fun
Here I am perusing old posts and I see this comment I missed! Thank you for taking the time to encourage me when this post came out. I was so excited as a newbie on Steem, and here I am, ten months later, still excited and feeling even more fully part of something incredible!
