The Myconid Barbarians are coming!

in #rpg7 years ago

I decided that if someone has the audacity to decide to make a Myconid Barbarian character, for their roleplaying game, then they have deserved the possibility to get a figurine of it too.

In my previous post, I sculpted a Myconid head in blender along with a timelapse video and a downloadable stl file. it was inspired by @basilmarples who run a roleplaying club in his area. One of the kids have decided to make a Myconid barbarian and it is not easy to find such figures on the market. Luckily I have a 3dprinter and the skillset to model something for him. Thus I set about making the body for the myconid.

I started sculpting a body in the usual t-pose. I left the arms and legs as separate objects because when printing it that leaves my options more open.
Then I fitted a skeleton to it so that I could make a more dynamic pose if I wanted to. This is also a very good way of making the asset more reusable.

while I was at it , i sculpted and alternative head. then I made a preliminary pose and did a few renders.

I have made him empty handed and without equipment so far. mostly because I dont know which equipment he should have

maybe @basilmarples can help me out here.
It would be nice to have a few suggestion as to which weapon he carries, and any other large objects. (shields, backpack etc)

at the current exchange rate I think I can make him available for around 15-30 SBD + postage. Thats similar to what a Heroforge highres plastic miniature costs so I think that s a very fair price. After all this one is "made to order". He will of cause have to be painted and maybe also a bit of assembly. If anyone else have any great ideas for figurines I would be happy to give it a shot. Just post your ideas in the comments section and I will consider adding it to my todolist :-)

Personally I think he needs a BIG double bladed battle axe! Thats how I like my barbs. Excellent work!

I would have to agree, but I am not the one to decide - besides, since it is a digital model I can make interchangeable weapons options.

Hell YES! This is amaaazing! Im running my club today, and now that this seems to be genuinely happening (you are a legend, evilhippie) I will let the kid know, and perhaps he can throw in a couple of pointers......he is going to love this SO much, I can't even tell you!

great. by the way what scale are you using. I know some people use heroic scale(28mm like games workshop) while others use a slightly larger scale(32 mm). If you are unsure, just measure a human figure and give me the height, then I can match it to that.

well, to be honest, we have a mix of games workshop figures, official D&D miniatures, Reaper, random toys and even characters that the kids have made out of fimo, so whatever you're happiest producing! Probably heroic....I think he considers himself to be quite tall anyway! He has a bone sword and some kind of scutum shield but you have full creative license to craft some sort of barbaric, mushroom inspired version of these items, he tends to use brute force to deal with any problem (even breathing) and I guess some sort of adventuring pack around his waist might help to visually separate him from all the monsters and fantastic obscurities that come his way!

This is awesome. Not just that you were inspired to this, but also that it gives a new-to-roleplaying person MORE incentive to continue playing, and possibly becoming excited enough to tell his/her friends, possibly gaining even more people to the universal "roleplaying community".

This is simply....badass. Well done.
