My good friend's hackers got access to the stock exchange through hacking into the mailroom last night and withdrew a very large amount of money. I'm not just writing this, it's a really big amount, and considering that it was all his money, the person is in a really big trouble. I won't go into the names and details of what happened, but I'll remind you of the basic security rules so that it doesn't happen to you:
In any program where possible, use 2FA (Two-Factor Authentication)
Never save passwords to any accounts (mail, stock, trading programs, etc.) in browsers. These passwords are stored in special cookies and can be easily decrypted by a professional. For the same reason, do not log in to the stock exchanges from other people's computers (especially in Internet cafes), on such computers can be installed all kinds of keyloggers that intercept your passwords.
Always set up an automatic exit from any account (especially exchange, trading programs and mail) after a short period of downtime and when closing your browser. If there is no automatic logout function, log out manually.
Do not use or install dubious, untested or underutilized programs (especially for trading). They may steal your data and in particular your API keys. Even a program downloaded from the AppStore or GooglePlay does not guarantee its security at all. You can use API keys to manage your account through your phone or tablet, and an unknown program will steal the keys, send them over the network to an intruder, and then you will lose money.
It is highly desirable not to trade on the computer you are working on, surfing the Internet, downloading games, music and so on. To trade, you need to have a separate computer with the minimum required set of drivers and programs, including an expensive antivirus, firewall and all possible access restrictions. **There shouldn't be any surfing the Internet from such a computer!
No lotions, chips, additional programs, plug-ins, it should not be on it either!Do not store passwords, API keys, access codes in the mail, on the desktop, on free cloud services, and in any unprotected form. Use special programs to store passwords for Dashlane, KeePass, RoboForm, Sticky Password and others, or if you store passwords in a text or table file - this file should be archived with a complex password. A complex password is like the one generated by golos.io.
Try not to use wireless Internet (Wi-Fi) or local networks that have such an Internet connection for trading. The modem or router must be connected directly to your computer using a cable.
