Thats a great effort, well done.
And well done on sticking to your plan and finishing after 7 laps... it would have been so easy to do a couple more laps and then pay the price in needing a longer recovery time or even potentially risking injury
I've only discovered the 'Backyard Ultra' events quite recently, it is an intriguing concept of physical endurance and mental strength. The stop/start element alone must be really difficult to deal with.
Is this your first one, or have you done others like this before?
This was my third backyard ultra. Indeed it is a mentally tough race, however, there are advantages like not having to carry a lot of gear or risking running alone for miles and miles. I like having 10-15 minutes to eat or change shoes, but not more, then my legs are to heavy to get started again.
