My first Trail Run
As some of you may know, I am actually a cyclist taking part in Mountain Biking. I however tried my hand at Trail Running yesterday afternoon. At 61 years of age this was my first ever trail run, although I must admit that I did take part in road running when I was still in my twenties and thirties.
The venue is very close to my house, with a small restaurant at the start and finish of the race. Although this is an open field, with a small stream and some small dams in it, it is in the middle of a built-up area. Although this is a timed event, you have a window in which you can start the race, this has the benefit that there are not to much people at one spot of the trail, making running easier.
It was raining just before the start, thus the trail was quite muddy and slippery at some points. You can see the route in the screenshot above as well as my running performance. Although it went quite well, I did walk at some points as, I was quite tired. You can see my pace varied quite a bit, if you look at the screenshot below. The route also had some uphill's thrown into the mixed, which also took it's toll on my running performance.
Above you can see my heart rate zone's, which I think was quite ok.
All and all I enjoyed the run, although I must say I am quite stiff today, with a few pains and ace's that I did not have before.
Running is good cross training for cycling, thus I will try and do it more often, although I don't think I will increase my distance in the near future.
I hope you enjoyed the post and that you have a wonderful day.
Oh wow too far congrats for the 11km @rynow
