I've run a few times near work. There are lots of cycle and foot paths around Stevenage that make it easy to avoid crossing too many roads. I was looking on Google maps and realised how close we are to actual countryside. I just need to run under the A1 motorway to get there. There I found some little lanes that led to dirt/mud farm tracks and then some paths that led through some woods. It's great to get well away from the traffic, but I could always hear it. Below is a very typical country scene around here. Lovely blue skies as you can see, but only just above freezing.
The stats don't reflect the actual run as it didn't record the first kilometre or so as I managed to stop the app. Norton Green seems to be a popular place for people to walk in their break as I saw quite a few, as well as some other runners. I could see that some cyclists and horse riders had also been the same way. There are just a few houses and a caravan/trailer park around that area.
some tips on this for new runners.I'll definitely be running around there again. I was struggling at the end as my legs wanted to give up, so I wasn't expecting great times. I need to look at getting some new shoes as mine are wearing out. @dailyrunner has

Wimbledon Park Run. Have a good day.@steevc - It's great to get a lunchtime run in and your views make it doubly worthwhile. Is there a Park Run near you? You should try and run tomorrow if there is. My local one is the
Actually one started in Letchworth a couple of weeks back. I plan to run it tomorrow
@steevc - How did you get on? I hope you had a good run. I came in 82nd position out of 375 in the Wimbledon Park Run on Saturday. Have a great week. 👍

getting there. Participation is the main objective and then set your mind on gradual improvement . You're definitely on your way. 👍@steevc - Yes, if possible conserve as much energy as you can
@steevc - Cool. Have a good run tomorrow. 👍
The view like this makes the run worthwhile! Even if it was only just above freezing. I actually prefer colder weather if I have to choose between summer hot and winter cold. But soon spring will come: the best time for running! Take care!
I find I get warm enough when it's freezing. In summer you just can't cool down
Exactly! :)
Nice work. Running out in a park or common ground is always more fun than dodging cars.
The only problem here is that to do that, first I have to run up huge hills - so running in traffic I go.. hehe
Great run Steve, congrats. It is always good to be able to get away from work and traffic and all the hectic.
I assume it was freezing enough that there was no mud?
Happy running :)
Oh there was mud, but not too deep

I would think country runs are better that town runs, not that I run as I can barely walk lol good luck on your next run :)
