RE: The 9 Mile Marathon Training Plan

in #runningproject7 years ago

This makes sense, especially in regard to accumulated fatigue. I have often noted that a lot of marathoners show up to races exhausted by the standard training. I think there is still a lot we don’t yet know about distance training. We know a lot, and we can even test what we know, but I think there are also lots of alternatives that don’t get explored for fear of not doing it the proven way. On a personal level, when I was a little younger, for several years I consistently ran pr’s every year in a 10-miler and never trained over 3 miles.
If I ever run another marathon I might try something like this plan. Are you going to try it yourself?

Hey @cstrimel I completely agree. We have this mentality of always working harder instead of smarter. I had a similar experience when I was younger as well...I had no idea of training or plans and people would always question how I would get the times I did without doing a lot of structured training.
It will be interesting to see the results of this training.
