The unforgettable journey to Sagada

in #sagada7 years ago (edited)

This is one of my unforgettable travel for 2018. First of all lets talk about the place...Sagada is a town in the Cordillera Mountains, within the Philippines’ Mountain Province. It is 5,000 feet above sea level. The Kiltepan peak is the best area to await for the sunrise in Sagada. Giving you a view of the Kiltepan Rice Terraces from below having standing on a ravine at 1640 meters above sea level, one can see how the sun rises slowly filling up the skies with an awesome play of light over the farther mountains of the Cordilleras while sea of clouds slowly drifts away from caressing the valley below. Echo Valley’s hanging coffins are displayed high on cliffs, while centuries-old coffins are stacked in burial sites like Lumiang Cave. The nearby Sumaguing Cave has unusual limestone formations. To the north, Bomod-ok Falls has a natural swimming pool. Rice terraces are carved into the area's surrounding mountainsides.

Imagination should be widened, as out of the limestone formations in one of the biggest caves in the Philippines, comes a Queen, a King, a Princess, a turtle, an elephant and even a birthday cake. Guess which one I'm posing with! :P

Saying "Hello!" after surpassing the obstacles in making yourself fit in these narrow holes! You'll experience when going up and back to the outside world!

Keeping myself warm before heading to the next destination. Normally in Sagada, it's normal for the temperature to be 16°C or lower. It is very important that you keep yourself warm like sipping a hot chamomile tea or their very own Sagada Coffee. Breaths turns into mist.. So you better not to miss! ;)

Echo Valley's Hanging Coffins
Most Ganduyans (the collective name for the people in Sagada) rituals strongly follow the same belief. "The nearer you are to heaven... the closer you are to God".

Bomok-od Falls
I recommend that you should swim when you know you have a company. Walking beside these is very slippery. Be precautious.

Ending the day with a feast of a hotdog barbeque party cause we made it!
