I don’t know much about sailing, Blue, so what does ‘waiting to be stepped’ mean? Always eager to learn something new. 😁
When a ship is built, the masts are made onshore, like these for a schooner.
the process of standing a mast up in the socket on the deck where the mast sits is called stepping it up, and then attaching the ropes, lines and sheets, etc.
