Sail With Me On The Bras D'Or Lakes - Part 1

in #sailing6 years ago

It's a rainy day here on Cape Breton Island, so what better time to sit down with a coffee and share some of the photos from the last few days of sailing.

Sailing Bras D'Or - Part 1

The first day started out a little overcast and with almost no wind. There was a little bit, though, and it was blowing down the lake so we were able to get the spinnaker up and flying as soon as we left the mooring. We ended up keeping it up all day and sailed about 25 km down the lake.

Me and @landonator enjoying the relaxing sail with the colorful spinnaker.

We found this sheltered cove to stop for supper. It worked out really well. Instead of having to pull in and anchor, there was a mooring ball right in the middle of the cove so it was way easier to just hook onto that and enjoy our meal.

Can you see the eagle in the tree?

Things got a little faster on the way back. The wind had picked up, but it would have taken a few hours to get back and it was getting late. So, we turned on the motor and turned up the speed. @landonator really likes this from the front of the boat.

We got back to our mooring, packed everything up, and headed in on the dinghy just in time for the sunset.

We made it back to the cottage just before the sun completely set and I was able to snap this photo before it all disappeared for the night.

The perfect end to a great day.

You have an amazing life. Great photography. I look forward to seeing more of your adventures in the future. Thanks for sharing! :)

Your son is very cute. Nice photos.

Thanks. He is a handsome fella.

Wow beautiful place. Upvote and follow done.

Thanks a lot!

You are a brilliant photographer.all photographs are beautiful and taken on right time.you and your son are having such a great time it is looking..

Thanks. It was a good time. He really likes being on the boat.

That really looks like the perfect sailing day!

Loving the spinnaker color pattern! How big is your boat??
The little one is learning early about the enjoyable things in life, is he already working the ropes? :D

It's a 26' MacGregor 26X. He's interested in the ropes but he's still a little too small. He gets to watch a lot, steer the dinghy, and he plays a lot with spare ropes that are lying around. Soon enough he'll be out with us doing all the work so we can sit back:)

Looks like you two had a blast! And the pictures are beautiful. I had a friend who had a sailboat once upon a time; and I think I got more into it than he did. It was always me convincing him to take it. I miss it quite a bit. On another note, I really hope that rain is heading down this way; we need it pretty bad.

Glad you two had a good time. Cheers!

oh, you've a blog for you son?
I'm his follower now;)

a very nice boy;) and a very brave one!
how old is he? about 4 I think?

Great time on the boat!
I like just to stare, water isn't my place, but it gives much fun, it's a pity I can't feel it

I do, thanks for following.

I don't post on there much, I just curate with it behind what I vote on. I'm sure by the time he's old enough to take it over for himself he'll have a good chunk of SP he can use.

He just turned 3 in May and he's definitely a water boy. I couldn't get him out of the water yesterday on the boat.
