We just passed through this time, we didn't anchor up here, so the title is lying a bit. Anyway, Stavern is a great place to drop anchor (one just have to try to avoid the high-voltage cables in the area - check an up-to-date map) so I will present it as that. There is a guest harbour in Stavern as well, but why enter a crowded guest harbour and pay money for it when one can just drop anchor? :-)
Jarle Andhøy is an adventurer who was crazy enough to both pass Cape Horn and visit Antarktika in a 27-feet Albin Vega, and lucky enough to survive the trip - he got a fine for not wearing a life west while going to land in a dhingy here in Stavern. But I digress ...
Here is Stavern from the east side

Stavern has museums, fortress and fortress buildings on several of the islands, nice beaches, and if one wants to waste money on restaurants and street shopping then that's also perfectly possible ... at least in the summer time.

I hope I will go through the place then to waste my money
