Introduction:
Selling is the number one life skill everyone should possess yet only a few have mastered this art. Over the years I have read a great many books on selling and I have realized that very few authors really explain how selling takes place. They seem to sound like a Pentecostal Pastor, arousing the minds of her members but yet once they live the church, they seem to face a new reality. While some occasionally close, it appears to be a miracle. Something is a miracle when you do not know how it happened; when it cannot be explained or repeated at will. So if one cannot close anybody, anytime he or she wants to, then selling is still a miracle to such a person.
Our focus on this material is to demystify the art of selling and make it realizable every single time a person is doing it. Life is a cause and effect phenomenon and so is selling. If you do not get the right result, you simply check the actions you took to attain such result. The good news is that anyone, in fact everyone can sell. One does not need a grad school certificate to be a sales master. So forget about everything you have learn about selling over years for just the few minutes you will spend with me and trust me to open your eyes to a new truth about the art of sales mastery or what I call Hypnotic Selling.
The Hypnotist
Hypnosis dates back centuries ago and its application spans to medicine, psychiatry and many other fields. Hypnosis is a state of human consciousness involving focused attention and reduced peripheral awareness and an enhanced capacity to respond to suggestion. The term may also refer to an art, skill, or act of inducing hypnosis. [Source: Wikipedia]. There are other misconstrued facts about the subject, that the hypnotist is turned into a slave. Well, that has been proven wrong by other authorities in the field. [source] We are not delving into the study or practice of hypnotism in this material but we will be using it to compare our approach to effective selling and sales mastery. This is because, just as in hypnosis, Selling is 10% Outward, 90% inward. Getting a customer to make that buying decision and committing to it has very little to do with your pitch, product, and many things you have thought were paramount to selling. UNVEILING THE SALES MASTER
I AM (part 1)
Game of thrones is probably the most publicized TV series of 2017. I really enjoy the story and one of my favorite characters is Lord Baelish fondly called Little finger. In episode 3 of the 7th season, he gave a wise counsel to Sansa Stark: “Don’t fight in the north or the south, fight every battle; everywhere, always. In your mind, everyone is your enemy, everyone is your friend. Every possible series of events is happening all at once. Live that way and nothing will surprise you. Everything that happens will be something you have seen before”. This was a stripped down perspective of the multidimensional nature of man in respect to time and space. Before we can fully understand who a hypnotic salesman is, we must of necessity know what man is, and what selling to a man is really like.
You see, looking at man from a unilateral perspective, you may think all of man is what you see right before your eyes: a human, breathing, walking mammal capable of emotions. Well, that is too narrow a way to look at yourself. We are far more than that. Man is a tripartite being. We exist in 3 plains at the same time: Spirit, Soul and Body. The Spirit man is actually the real man with the very essence of his existence. The Spirit man is our highest plain of existence and lives outside what we know as the physical world. If you think of a spirit, you think of a being that exist like air. But unlike air, it exist out of space and time. Then we have the Body man. This is the man that we see and feel using the senses of our bodies.
The body-man houses the Spirit-man. The spirit gives life to the body and makes it a living being capable of existence in time and space. Another important aspect of man’s existence is the soul-man. This is the plain of thought, feelings, and emotions. The soul is the bridge between the spirit and the body. It is the door way that leads to both plains of existence. Why is this important in our journey to sales mastery? This is because, one cannot become a master of sales if he is not first a master of self.
As we will see along our journey, the 3 plains of existence are always involved in the sales process. The hypnotic salesman knows how to navigate across those plains to get the target or prospect to buy or close. This is what sales mastery is about. Like Little finger said, the battle of winning in sales is fought at all 3 plains all at once (spirit, body and soul). The past, the future and the present happening all at once.
