Despite early talk of Samuel L. Jackson reprising Nick Fury in the two Avengers sequels, that doesn’t seem to be happening.

In an interview with Yahoo!, Jackson states the studio hasn’t called him concerning either Avengers: Infinity War (wrapped) and Avengers 4 (currently shooting).

“I wasn’t in the ‘superhero argument’ movie [‘Captain America: Civil War’], I’m not in ‘Avengers 3 and 4’. They’re shooting them now, and they haven’t called me yet,” Jackson tells Yahoo Movies.

This might explain why there wasn’t talk of a contract extension when it was revealed by Kevin Feige Sam would be back as Fury in a 1990s set Captain Marvel (his return and co-lead role first reported by Omega Underground).

Jackson also says he hasn’t signed anything for Captain Marvel or seen a script. It’s possible his option for Avengers will be carried over for that film instead.

“I haven’t signed a contract, I haven’t seen a script. I talked to Brie [Larson] the other day she didn’t say anything she’s the only other person I know is in the movie.”

Don’t panic just yet.

One thing comes to mind is that they could end-up shooting Fury and Danvers scenes alongside with their January-May Captain Marvel production in LA. We’ve already seen Paul Rudd shoot some Infinity War footage ahead of Ant-Man and Wasp’s production.
