Samsung usually announces its yearly flagship phones at the Mobile World Congress which takes place sometime around the end of February. But, that didn't happen with this year's phones aka Galaxy S8 and S8+, all thanks to the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco -- which is why Samsung was being extremely careful with its devices to not leave any loopholes anywhere. This is the reason why S8 and S8+ launch and release datelines were pushed my almost a month. Well, that's not going to be the case with Samsung's next year flagship phones.
Reports of the Samsung's forthcoming flagship phones have already started making headlines, way before the company could even confirm. Samsung is seemingly planning to launch two devices in 2018, which are going to be the successors of the Galaxy S8, S8+. The upcoming flagship phones are going to be the Galaxy S9 and S9+. This was first reported by Sammobile.
The South Korean smartphone manufacturer may announce the Galaxy S9 and S9+ at the upcoming MWC -- which is to start on February 26 and continue until March 1 in Barcelona. Samsung is reportedly planning to schedule the Galaxy S9 and S9+ launch event for February 25. It is noteworthy that Samsung has not revealed any official statement on the same yet, but may do so in the days to come.
We have been hearing a lot about both the phones -- S9 and S9+ of let. Both the devices have been subjected to several leaks and rumours already. Going by them, S9 and S9+ are expected to sport Galaxy S8 like infinity display with an aspect ratio of 18:9. As far as the camera department is concerned, the devices are also expected to come with two cameras at the back -- which are said to be an improved version of the S8's camera. Similar will be the case with the front camera as well.
Both Galaxy S9 and S9+ are tipped to launch in two variants. The base model is expected to come with 64GB of internal storage, while the top end edition may come with 128GB of internal storage. Alongside, Samsung is likely to also announce a limited edition model of the S9 phones with 256GB of storage.
On the hardware front, the S9 series of phones are expected to run on the latest operating system aka the Android 8 Oreo. Some reports claim that both the flagship devices may be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 845 chipset. However, the scenario can be the same as S8 and S8+, Samsung may not bring the Snapdragon 845 models to India - instead, keep them only for select markets - considering the heavy price tag of the devices. In India, chances are that the South Korean manufacturer may bring the Exynos chip models only.
