Samsung has introduced a new smartphone, Galaxy S9. The tech company claims the phone has some new features as well as the most advanced cameras. But several US security experts have questioned the security features of the phone, saying the technology used in the Samsung Galaxy S9 is not very safe.
An intelligent scan as a new way to unlock the face in the new smartphone has been introduced in the phone. It uses Face Recognition and Irish Scanning. If the reckoning does not work, then Irish works. If both are not working, then the smartphone can be opened using both methods. But researchers have claimed that even though the intelligent scan system works faster than the security method used in previous smartphones, it is not very safe.
According to a report published on Senate Technologies website, Samsung is still using 2-D Face Scanning System. This process was also used in the Galaxy S8 last year. Besides, Irish scanning technology which was used in Galaxy Note 7, has also been used in Galaxy S9.
Intelligent scan technology has been faster or enhanced by these two technologies but it is not very safe. It is still not reliable technology in case of money transfer. Earlier, it was possible to fool the technology using the images of the human face in Galaxy S8. Even, the Irish system was also fooled.
The report, citing security researcher Jane Crisler, of the Hacking Group Computer Cause Club, said that an old system has been reclaimed. Previously, they saw the collapse of the Galaxy S8's Irish scanning technology. They do not wish to show breaking the new system.
Technology analysts say that the use of Intelligent Scans has the advantage of accessing a website with the help of the Samsung Pass App. This implies that Apple is trying to capture the face ID technology that has come to their iPhone 10, Samsung is trying to capture it.
Technology analyst Avi Greenguart said, Samsung has fallen behind Apple in this case. Apple has a lot of money, time and effort behind their face ID. Samsung has a version of Face ID before it, but they are trying to catch Apple.
According to a report by Business Insider, a business and technical website, Samsung Galaxy S9 has made some updates on the smartphone, but there is nothing significant in comparison to the previous year's Galaxy S8. Besides, the price of S9 is much higher.
I think its not weak as they are saying. I hope if it happens then samsung should update this issue.
