A month ago, a Saudi Arabia developer ZainAlabdin Tawfiq introduced the world to an anonymous messaging app that allows you to send messages to anyone you want without the recipient knowing who the sender is. The app which was named Sarahah has become a global phenomenon now with the youngsters hooked to their smartphones in order to get a constructive feedback. After some early success, a few cases of cyber bullying and hateful messages were reported from all across the world. The concept of the application is so popular that it was ranked number one on Apple App Store in over 30 countries in July.

However, many people have recently got some suspicious messages threatening them that their identity will be revealed. “Announcement: A lot of people have been asking for a site to reveal anonymous senders. Now here you have it at www.sarahahexposed.com,” reads the message which is doing rounds these days, according to a report by Gadgets Now. This message has led to some panic.

In case you have also received a message like this, there is no need to worry. It is a hoax and you don’t have to fall for it. The app is just meant to send and receive messages without revealing your personal details and encrypts all your personal information.

When you get such a message and open the link, it actually helps these websites which are in the market only to make money. When you open the link, it shows a column where you can type the username and click on find sender. However, instead of revealing the identity, you are redirected to fill out a survey of sorts.

The website is a scam. The more website visits the creators get, the more money they earn. So no matter how curious you are, there is no way of finding out how is sending you those messages. If you want you can delete the app but for now, enjoy the anonymous messages.
