Update!

Great success: Your protests have worked! The European Parliament has sent the copyright law back to the drawing board. All MEPs will get to vote on #uploadfilters and the #linktax September 10–13. Now let's keep up the pressure to make sure we #SaveYourInternet!

And another tweet from a EU focused twitter account with more than 5K (real) followers.

You're welcome 😉

I was not aware of this. thank you for this post. have resteemed. will also take action :-)

I only heard about this yesterday, but it's been coming for a while. It sounds like a bad law.

I've emailed and tweeted my MEP's. Best we all do the same. A lot of noise can potentially stop it.

The site you gave didn't seem to come up with the right MEPs for me, but I used this site to email mine.

Thanks for the link @steevc. Ive just written to them too. Let's make some noise!

Everything with this law will affect, it is already a bad law...

Ming is our only hope!

I can't say it's a surprising development. The EU is trying for greater congruence with the US, even though there is always a huge number of people opposing it, and this looks like us following their laws on copyright.

It's also not surprising because it's a ... copyright law. It deals with copyright, and make the things we do every day illegal because, well, they kind of are already, they're just not enforceable.

Take for example the image above. That is from a Wordpress blog which is one of many keeping a record of election posters and other images in Ireland. Does someone own that image? Maybe. Do I care? Not at all.

Really copyright it a flawed system but it's as rock solid as the idea of debt in the global shared culture. I really will write to Ming about this but I think we need a new internet, away from all this meddling.

Gosh, I've followed the link to read what that article is all about, this is really madness, it's an attack on our freedom of speech, these days more things are said online than almost anywhere else, if what we say online can be so controlled then we have a big hush on our lips.

I'm completely against this and so should we all be. Who could have thought out such a terrible provision!

Just heard about this today, so I went looking for more information on it. I'm disappointed there's not more people talking about it. Even though I'm not in an EU country I still find this extremely concerning.

Same here...what is going on with the asleep thing? I am not over there either.
We stand up and they better too.

For some reason many people have a hard time understanding that once you give something up it's almost impossible to get it back. Gotta stand up.

This sounds really bad, I'm not from europe but I hope that law is not approved

The law affects everyone. This is not limited to Europe.

Hey @Demotruk,
This sounds pretty serious and dangerous. Who could have created such a concept? The idea of the internet and now blockchain is freedom. It will be a shame to pass such a law in this time and days.

Will research more on it.

@Nairadaddy: Founder of @Air-Clinic!

Do report back on what you find. I am curious

Once you do research this out .. please post what you find.

Ive written to my MEPs about this too. If we stay quiet they will continue to take away our power!

I see this is being pushed through within a month's time.
No free speech once licensed; if you can afford this license.
It is not surprising with all that is going on.

BTW: I am surprised I have not seen more posts on this.
Is everyone asleep; do they want to keep Steemit?

Sounds pretty crazy, but not surprised. There are some agencies who want nothing more than to NOT be criticized and to silence any opposition. Historically speaking, this is nothing new but still as important as it was hundreds of years ago. Speak up people!!!

We all the to fight this bill. The bill wants totaled live from us, we no go gree

does not seem to be on MSM about it
