My Favorite Money-Saving Apps!

in #savingmoney8 years ago

With the craziness of the economy these days, we are all looking to save a little money.  One of the ways that I am able to do this is through various apps that I have downloaded on my cell phone.  Check out a few of my favorites below!

1. Ibotta

This is probably my favorite app for saving money.  Simply unlock a rebate by completing basic tasks such as watching a video or reading a fact, purchase the product, scan the barcode, and you've earned yourself some money back from your purchase.  Ibotta offers rebates on a variety of products, including milk, eggs, and produce.  Each month, there are opportunities to earn bonuses by submitting a specific amount of rebates.  I have earned over $800 since signing up, so there is definitely a great opportunity with this app!

2.  Checkout 51

Checkout 51 works similar to ibotta, but you do not need to unlock any rebates.  Simply purchase a product within the allotted time (this app runs rebates Thursday-Wednesday), scan your receipt, and choose the products that you purchased.  There are weeks when I find several products that I use or find to be an amazing deal to donate, and there are other weeks when I simply purchase the "pick your produce" deal, so your success with this app may vary.  So far, I have earned about $141 through this app since I signed up.

3.  Savingstar

Savingstar is another app that I use no a regular basis.  They run "100% cash-back" rebates at least once a month, and they provide a variety of rebates that many of us use on a regular basis from personal care items to food.  To use this app, be sure to claim the rebates once they come out since they are limited in number.  Once you have claimed the rebate, it will remain in your account until you use it or it expires.  Many stores' cards can be linked to Savingstar, so once you claim a rebate, all you need to do it purchase the item to claim that rebate.  Other stores, such as Target, however, require you to scan the barcode of the item and submit a photo of your receipt.  I have earned $260 so far using this app.

4.  Receipt Hog

While not a rebate app, this is my most-used app recently.  It takes a bit longer to earn rewards, but for simply taking pictures of your receipts, you can earn gift cards.  Bonus points can also be earned by simply submitting your retail receipts and earning spins on the slot machine.

5.  BerryCart

Berrycart is one of my least-used apps, but it is nice for the occasional free organic item.  I recently purchased walnut milk at the grocery store, used a coupon to make the item free, and then submitted my receipt for that same walnut milk on Berrycart (and Checkout 51) to earn $3 back.  Who can pass up an item that you are making money on?

6.  Mobisave

The final app I want to share with you is Mobisave.  While this is not my most-used app, I like how each and every submission is sent directly to my Paypal account, so I have the money immediately.  There are several everyday products available at all times, so while the money may not add up quickly, you will earn back money on a regular basis.
