Pro's:
- Everyone gets something. People on the fringes of society would have a regular income and this could potentially reduce crime.
- In nations with large inequality of wealth, the poorest would have a chance to at least survive and depending on the level of UBI have a better life than without.
- Fair for everyone, provides the basics then individual motivation will provide a better life.
Cons:
- Reduces incentive - "money for nothing" can quite often lead to "easy come easy go"
- Many people that don't need any financial help would benefit, draining resources from helping those that do need a hand.
- Could reduce incentives for workers to take jobs they don't really want - lowers societies productivity as many low or unskilled jobs remain unfilled, while many people choose not to work.
