Biblical text: 1 Samuel 25: 1-44 (Reina-Valera 1960).
Her name means woman of joy or source of joy, joy of the father,
Context:
David was in the desert fleeing from Saul, then he sent several of his young men to Nabal's house to receive his support and help at that time, because David had been good to Nabal's servants, but he refused their help. David was enraged and wanted to go against him and his servants to kill him. But one of Nabal's servants was to give notice to his wife Abigail and made her aware of the situation, for he knew that she was a wise and good-hearted woman. I take the courage to prepare a present for David and his servants and without her husband's knowledge, when he saw him, he fell on his feet and begged her to listen, so he would not kill her husband. Finally she told what happened to her husband and Jehovah did justice with his hands, when Nabal died, David asked him to be his wife, because he had left impressed and she accepted.

Features:
Abigail was a woman as the Bible says: intelligent, beautiful, good-looking, courageous, intercessor, skillful, counselor. Who was married to a man, evil and foolish. (Verse 3)
Tips:
Ask God for as much direction as possible when making such an important decision as choosing who will be our husband: for Abigail in the case I dare to believe that she alone would not have wanted to marry a man who would be like that, but as in the times before the parents were those who looked for husbands to their daughters, they gave them to whom it seemed best and they only had to submit, or also Nabal at the time of knowing and conquering it has behaved in a totally different way to what it really was. The Bible does not say how it happened, but we must bear in mind that our parents should not choose for us, nor force us to marry whomever they want, but of course we must ask for their advice and approval.
Yearning and obtaining the wisdom and intelligence that comes from God: as women we always tend to always be the advising hand of the people around us. In this case the servant did not consider his master in a position to make a good decision to solve the problem with David, instead he turned to his wife and how nice it is that we are identified as that guide and be correct in making a decision , that when facing any situation at work, university, church, home etc. Always seek the presence of God and his wisdom, so that in seeking a solution we always have an option. The servant's words were: "Now, then, reflect and see what you have to do, because the evil is already resolved against our master and against his whole house; for he is such a wicked man, that there is no one who can speak to him "(verse 17). Like who says you will know what to do.
Be intercessors and prudent: let us always be of help and not stumbling block, not complaining or entering into discussions, we should be recursive, although at that time she had passed by her husband, by bringing presents to David and go sneaking. But do not see it as an act of rebellion, if not intercession, nobility, mercy for her husband and servants, she did go to ask David not to kill her husband even knowing that he had acted wrong. That braver than daring to face the enemies of our loved ones. At all times looking for the benefit of ours, interceding, standing in the gap, for our family, children, friends. Although maybe they do not deserve it, but that does not matter.
Talk and face everything always with the truth no matter how painful it is: be sure of what we speak and act, even if the other person does not care or does not notice, that we are helping them in some way, doing things well, despite that some do not like, we fulfill our duty as a friend, wives, daughters, mothers, mothers-in-law, sisters, aunts, etc. Abigail dared to go to David, I ended up giving her a wise advice not to take justice into her own hands and he blessed her.
"Virtuous woman, who will find it? Because his estimate far exceeds that of precious stones.
Proverbs 31:10 (Reina-Valera 1960)
The virtuous woman is one who was transformed by God and lives a legal venue before her presence, says the Bible that her esteem surpasses even the precious stones! God bless those virtuous women!
