Christians are called to overcome evil with good

in #sc-v5 years ago

Normally a person acts according to the actions he faces daily. Example if someone treats me badly obviously I will respond in the same way, if someone wants me badly I will also do the same or if someone hurts me I will also try to hurt him.
However, the Bible tells us that we cannot act that way. Read:

Romans 12: 17-21
17 Do not pay anyone wrong for evil; seek good in front of all men.
18 If possible, as long as it depends on you, be at peace with all men.
19 Do not take revenge on yourselves, my beloved, but leave room for the wrath of God; because it is written: Mine is revenge, I will pay, says the Lord.
20 So, if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if thirsty, give him a drink; For doing this, embers of fire will pile up on his head.
21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
Reina Valera 1960 (RVR1960)

The apostle Paul advises the Romans that they cannot pay badly for evil but rather that they should practice all that is good before men in order to be at peace with them in order to see their good behavior.

In this way we are called to practice all the positive and good things that God likes and this means that we will not only be at peace with God but also with the men around us and look at our behavior.

As a light of the world we must shine before men so that they too can glorify and believe in God for our good behavior.

Jesus told his disciples: you are the light of the world and the salt of the earth are two powerful similarities that demonstrate our Christian essence.

In the same way he exhorts us not to take revenge for ourselves because that corresponds to God and if we try to do it we are taking away the glory from God.

People are wrong to want to take revenge on our own and we are wrong but God is not wrong he makes everything perfect and at the right time and therefore we must not provoke the wrath of God.

Very true @giacamila777, we are light of the world and as such we must shine and the Bible also tells us that he who knows how to do good and does not do it is a sin.
