¡Elias on Mount CarmeL!
Source
We read in the book of 1 Kings chapter 18-41-46 the following:
41 Then Elijah said to Ahab, Go up, eat and drink; Because a big rain is heard.
42 Ahab went up to eat and drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel, and prostrating himself on the ground, put his face between his knees.
43 And he said to his servant, Go up now, and look toward the sea. And he went up, and looked, and said: There is nothing. And he said again: Come back seven times.
44 On the seventh time he said: I see a small cloud like the palm of a man's hand, rising from the sea. And he said: Go, and say to Ahab: Lift your car and go down, so that the rain does not stop you.
45 And it came to pass, in this, that the heavens darkened with clouds and wind, and there was a great rain. And going up Ahab, he came to Jezreel.
46 And the hand of Jehovah was upon Elijah, who bound his loins, and ran before Ahab until he came to Jezreel. (Reina-Valera 1960 (RVR1960))
Elijah, a man of God who faced several battles comes from a great victory on Mount Carmel and faces a new battle in the people of Israel through drought.
Recall that Israel was living one of the most difficult times due to the sin of Ahab who was king of Israel but had his back to God, because he had not recognized God and was left seduced by his wife Jezebel a pagan woman who lived according to his carnal desires who induced him to idolatry.
Because of Ahab's sin and disobedience there was a great drought in the people of Israel and a great crisis but we see Elijah's intervention pray to God to send rain.
When is drought present in our life? Many of us have not been affected by many droughts that have been affecting part of our lives, families and everyday situations on a spiritual and physical level that we have not been able to identify in time to reflect and look for the reason for it.
Elijah knew that sin and disobedience in the people of Israel brought with it a series of situations that ended in a great drought. We have also caused many droughts in our lives that we need to identify in order to end it.
What did Elijah do for God to end this drought in the people of Isral? Elijah cried out to God, went directly to God to intercede for the people of Israel and sought Ahab to give him some instructions. Verse 41 tells us that "Then Elijah said to Ahab: Go up, eat and drink; for a great rain is heard."
Elijah activated his faith and told him to eat and drink because he heard a great rain coming. He called things that it wasn't as if it were because at that time there was secularly no rain but he saw her in the spirit by faith.
He ended up seeing the miracles that Elias had already caused before the people by the hand of God he obeyed and did what he said and at that moment Elias climbed to the top of Mount Carmel and prostrating himself on the ground put his face between his knees and again he tells his servant also to awaken faith in him
And in verse .43 he says that he said to his servant: "Go up now, and look toward the sea. And he went up, and looked, and said: There is nothing. And he said again: Come back seven times."
There is no doubt that God through Elijah was strengthening the faith of Elijah's servant who was weakened and in verse 44 45 and 46 we read:
44 On the seventh time he said: I see a small cloud like the palm of a man's hand, rising from the sea. And he said: Go, and say to Ahab: Lift your car and go down, so that the rain does not stop you.
45 And it came to pass, in this, that the heavens darkened with clouds and wind, and there was a great rain. And going up Ahab, he came to Jezreel.
46 And the hand of Jehovah was upon Elijah, who bound his loins, and ran before Ahab until he came to Jezreel.
Nothing is really impossible for God and Elijah, through obedience and faith in God, was able to end this great drought that confronted the people of Israel.
You can also end today with that drought that has come to disturb your life, your family and your nation. God is immensely great and powerful.
Perseverance in prayer is very important since we can observe in this passage that Elijah prayed seven times so that God could send the rain and end the drought. Can you imagine if Elias had given up on the first attempt to send his servant and not see the rain?
Do not be discouraged if you think you have already run out of all resources, keep on praying and you will see the glory of God.
¡A rain noise is heard, if you believe it you can see it. Fight for your victory!
¡There is no drought that God cannot cover!
