"Then the kingdom of heaven will be similar to ten virgins who, taking their lamps, went out to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were wise and five were foolish. The foolish ones, taking their lamps, did not take oil with them; but the prudent took oil in their vessels, along with their lamps. "Matthew 25: 1-4 (King James Version)
Life consists of daily preparation for an end, we all want to reach goals and reach as far as we can. While it is true to get where we want so much we have to be well trained.
An example of this is the story of the ten virgins, where we can find both sides of the coin. All had an end and was to enter such a long-awaited wedding with the bridegroom (Jesus) and like everything in this life, some were prepared and were more diligent than others, half of them acted prudently, doing things in the best way possible being cautious. On the other hand the other five relaxed completely and went to wait for the meeting without being ready.
They needed something very important for the road and to wait for their beloved, this was the oil to light their lamps and not allow them to go out. The oil symbolizes the holy spirit that is the power of God (1 Samuel 16: 13). It represents the anointing, light, healing, purity and if we do not have it we can not illuminate our lamps and therefore we would walk in darkness and we would not reach the place that God wants to take us.
Walking with God requires diligence and dedication, for nothing in the world we can give ourselves a vacation or a rest in our relationship with God, it must be a constant communion and therefore we can not fall asleep as the virgins did and believe that it is not yet time to prepare ourselves and that we will do it later (Matthew 25: 5).
And at midnight there was a cry: Here comes the husband; come out to receive him! Then all those virgins got up, and fixed their lamps. And the foolish said to the wise, Give us of your oil; because our lamps go out But the prudent answered, saying, "That we may not lack for ourselves and you, go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves." Matthew 25: 6-9 (Reina-Valera 1960).
Everyone is responsible for getting their oil, the quantity and quality of oil that you need to light the lamp of your life will depend on who and where you look, but the true oil is in intimacy with God, longing The presence of the Holy Spirit in your life is something that others can not do for you, and that the people around you can not lend it to you.
¨ But while they were going to buy, the husband came; and those who were ready went with him to the wedding; and the door closed. Then came the other virgins, saying: Lord, Lord, open us! But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not. Watch therefore, for you do not know the day or the hour in which the Son of Man is to come. "Matthew 25: 10-13 (Reina-Valera 1960).
That does not happen as you are foolish virgins, clueless, asleep, lazy, negligent. Let's take care of ourselves and look for our own oil, the Holy Spirit wants to fill us all, to illuminate our lives by going the right way, in order not to lose ourselves to live in his Kingdom eternally.
Jesus teaches us to be prepared for his return. He compares the second coming with a joyful procession of weddings in which those who have not been prepared can not participate, therefore we must deepen the wisdom of the five virgins who kept a reserve of oil in their vessels, in addition to the yahabian cast in the lamps. Thus they prepared for an unexpected delay of the future husband.
