RE: The Scam Artists and Blackmailers Are Killing The Steemit Baby, Softly, Slowly......What We All Can Do

in #scam9 years ago (edited)

Now this might come across too negative and it might very well be so, maybe a naive side of me is disappointed i'm not sure, but I've been, and still am, having such hard time with the idea of inviting friends over here... especially the ones I believe can contribute in substantial ways, intellectually, skillset-wise or creatively.. mainly because of what I've been seeing on the public face of the steem ecosystem, steemit. A lot of red flags; dishonesty, greed, politics, already consuming this space and it's just so young.. we say want it to grow, we say we need it to grow.. but if it grows too fast, how can it regulate itself? When/how can it find an equilibrium just long enough for people to make some sense out of it. How can it become something 'better'? at my most cynical (realistic?) moments, I tell my self, it's internet. That's how it works, imitates life at its worst. Just a few will bother, just a few will raise their voice if at all and most will just follow or give up all together. Whales will be whales, minnows will die out, and bye bye beautiful experiment. We had such hopes for you.@stellabella Thank you for not staying quiet!!!!

But then especially behind the scene, I see people working hard on what they believe is good for the community, for example anyx had been one of them for me.. He could have just done it for sole profit, but he is not only attending his special friend cheetah but also bringing up discussions about bots as well, letting people speak out instead of immediately blacklisting them... or just about anyone on the steemitabuse channel actually, people really talking to each other, helping out with what needs to be checked... it's a bandage to a deeper problem that needs addressing.. but it's definitely encouraging to see people taking action! or now your post, making attempts like this visible to many when it could have gone unnoticed just as easily. So there is hope yet =) I sure will try my best, and hope more will join in with good hearts.
