@ash, I did not see your original post about this Twitter scam. I was just on Twitter myself. Ash's original post is here:

Today, like every day, I was scouring news from Twitter from my favorite sources like Satoshi Nakamoto and Bored Elon Musk. Obviously, the Satoshi Nakamoto Twitter account is not the real Satoshi, but I enjoy reading and sometimes responding to his hilarious tweets, whoever "he" is. He has a biting, cutting sense of humor that I really admire, so I usually check his account on a daily basis for inspiration.
Anyway, today, I noticed that Ned Scott had started following me on Twitter. I thought that was a bit odd, but anyway, I went to Satoshi's twitter page and I discovered that Ned Scott's Twitter account had sent Satoshi Nakamoto a private message which Satoshi had tweeted:
Then, as I followed this tweet, I noticed that Brian Cohen @inthepixels had revealed that this twitter account of Ned Scott was actually a fake doppelganger phishing account that was created to look exactly like the real Ned Scott twitter account.
Ah! Even I was fooled for a minute or two because the fake account looks identical to the real one! The fake one even has copied the retweets of the real one. And everything is copied, like the photo and background image.
The only difference is in the spelling of the accounts:
REAL NED SCOTT TWITTER ACCOUNT: @certainassets
FAKE NED SCOTT TWITTER ACCOUNT: @certianassets
It's quite tricky even to notice that the word, 'CERTAIN' is spelled incorrectly as 'CERTIAN'.
The scam involves the fake Ned Scott sending this link to his Twitter followers and instructs them to send Bitcoin to a BTC address. Here's the scam link, which takes them to Survey Monkey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/VVBQCPV
DON'T DO THIS!!!!
I reported it to Twitter, but the more reports filed, the quicker it will be taken down. I just wanted to alert everyone in case they received a message from the fake Ned Scott's Twitter account.
Thanks for the heads up.
what i don't understand is why the fake one has 1,132 followers.........
You can just buy followers... very easy. $5 = 1000 followers.
yes, but when i scrolled through his followers, there were many legit ones like @steemservices I think. I recognized a lot of the names. Also, this twitter account was made like last month, so it might have been gaining followers and engaging somehow with others......
probably laying the groundwork to make themselves look more like the genuine account. if they only had one or two tweets and no followers no one would have fallen for it.
I just blocked him after reading @ash message in steemitchat.
Thx Stella!
I think this is already reported by @ash as well!
Here is the post: https://steemit.com/steemit/@ash/psa-fake-steemit-ceo-certianassets-on-twitter-be-careful-trying-to-scam
EDIT UPDATE
Account seems blocked already by Twitter and/or a multitude of flags from Steemit users :)
I only noticed @ash's after I had posted my own....I was literally just on twitter and found out....I linked @ash's at the top of my post.
Nope, is not blocked. Just checked Twitter and I have a follower request from this account.
Blocked and reported, of course...
@derekareith got burnt by this and lost 2btc ... https://steemit.com/scam/@derekareith/so-i-m-an-idiot-don-t-do-what-i-did-today-public-service-announcement
oh no!
I didn't see or read that one...jeezz, that SUCKS
It appears that Ned has reported this twitter. Just now.
Thank you very much for taking the time to warn us. I'd like to think I wouldn't fall for a scam... but there a lot of things I do at 3:00 after a little too much wine that I'd like to think I wouldn't do.
good catch could or (reckt) havoc here.
Yep - https://steemit.com/steemit/@ash/psa-fake-steemit-ceo-certianassets-on-twitter-be-careful-trying-to-scam
Super shady tactics, and to be expected. Thanks for bringing high profile notice to this

Sorry to hijack your thread with this reply but I think it's important for people to read as well.

Thanks a lot!
Great spotting Thanks!
My friend @getssidetracked also warned me of the account @steemit on Instagram. It had pretended to be an official account, and god knows what's happening in PM's between that account and users who find about steemit through instagram.
Just to warn everyone.
Leah, thank you so much for both making this post and helping me out.
I'm honestly trying to avoid my computer for the rest of the day after the mistake I made earlier. I love this site, I love this community, I let that love blind me in the moment.
I just never thought I'd fall for a scam like this, especially after being around crypto for the past few years and seeing so many scams in our space.
I have a lot of self-reflection to do and will do all I can to come out of it stronger and wiser than before.
Dang scammers
haha, smart faker. He just followed me:
Yucky
I got a message from FAKE Ned
That just will not see online)Thanks for your post!
Hi @luminousvisions! Can you show me the source of what you just mentioned?
Hahaha! I love it! I love that you were teasing him!
I was looking for the information where you said that votes from negative rep impacts people positively. Sorry for not having been precise enough.
