The story of the phenomenon of phantom sightings has been around for a long time and this continues to attract the attention of many people even today. Just as the appearance of a ghost is something that many people can not explain, there are also people who explain it scientifically.

If usually people who do not believe in the existence of ghosts say that ghosts are just something that can not be explained verbally by ourselves. then perhaps the following 10 scientific explanations can help you explain the phantom phenomenon's phenomenon in a more verbal way.

# * Jokes [saurce]() Ghosts are one thing that can not be proven but still trusted by many people. Realizing this there are only people who want to try to profit from the phenomenon, either for reasons of prestige or jokes. At the time of investigating the appearance of ghosts, the first thing to note is the phenomenon that turned out to have absolutely no paranormal relationship. It may be that a ghost report appears to be due to the actions of family members or people trying to create a joke or even want to sell the story.

But there are times when the investigation has been done, the concerned person is too embarrassed to admit that it is a joke he created. This causes the joke to be a prolonged belief that spreads to the surrounding environment. So of course if you hear there is a ghost sighting, the main thing that must be ascertained is it is not engineering other people.

# * Brain Errors [saurce]() Usually people see the appearance of ghosts in a form that makes them shiver like a man of the world war army, ancient raden, and so on. It turns out that such things happen because our minds are not focused. Joe Nickell, senior researcher of the committee for skeptical investigations says that this can happen due to various factors, such as disturbed thoughts, lack of sleep, fatigue, or Temporal Lobe Epilepsy (the part of the brain associated with vision).

When our brains are tired or unfocused then our brain will naturally try to fill all the information around us with incomplete visual information. Either because your twitching eyelids or insects passing in front of your eyes, it causes our minds to be deceived and assume that we see something terrible. In general this happens in a short time.

# * Cold Point [saurce]() When you're exploring a place at night, you feel the suddenly cooler air. But once you walk in another direction the temperature returns to normal. Paranormal experts used to call this a cold spot or a cold spot. They say that this happens because the ghost takes energy around them including the heat in the air.

Unfortunately, scientists have a more boring but simple explanation. This cold point occurs because of the cold air coming in from the windows or the ventilation of the house. Although a room is tightly closed, each object has its own temperature and some surfaces are hotter than others. To stabilize the room temperature, the objects release their heat in a process called convection. This is where hot air rises to higher ground and cold air descends to the lower ground. This change causes coldness in human skin.

* Mass Hysteria

saurce
In June 2013, more than 3,000 workers protested at a Gazipur factory in Bangladesh. They are not protests because of too long working hours, or salary increases, but because they want someone to evict a ghost in the factory toilet. It is said that an angry ghost attacked a worker in a ladies' room, causing everyone to panic. The riot happens to the limit of the police must take firm action. The same thing happened at a school in Patong, Phuket, Thailand when 22 students were admitted to hospital for being believed to see the ghost of an old woman.

After the investigation it was found that workers and students suffered from a phenomenon known as mass hysteria. This delusion occurs when a group of people are in a pressing environment, such as a busy school or workplace for example. Long-term pressure that eventually causes dizziness, nausea, to convulsions. If among those people there are people who believe in paranormal events then reports of ghost sightings will be found. From what was just a few people suffering from this symptom, others will also suffer similar symptoms because of the same environment. This is what ultimately succumbed to the mass hysteria.

# * Ideomotor [saurce]() In the paranormal world there are various mediums and ways that allow a person to talk to people who have died. One of the most famous ways is Ouija Board (Ouija Board). People will put their hands on a medium and ask the ghost a question. A board containing numbers, letters, and simple words like "yes" or "no" will be the ghost's answer medium.

It turns out the scientific explanation behind this phantom phenomenon is the power of suggestion. The power of suggestion makes a person move his muscles unconsciously. In 1853, the proof was done by dividing a group of participants into 2 groups of equal sums. The first group is informed that a table will move to the right while the other group is notified to the left. They then sat at the same table and the table did not move. But when all participants are notified in the same direction, an ideomotor effect occurs where the table is moved unconsciously in the direction it is told.

* Electrical stimulation in the brain

Many witnesses report the phenomenon of ghostly appearance in the form of a dark shadow of a human being. Many people believe that it is a demon, a demon, a doppleganger, or an astral body. However, researchers have a proven scientific theory.

A Swiss researcher proved that by doing an electric experiment into a participant's brain. The participant then reported that he saw a shadow sitting behind him, following all his moves until the moment the doctor asked the participant to read a card, the shadow tried to take the card out of the participant's hand.

What actually happens is that the person stimulates the part of the brain known as the left temporoparietal junction, the part of the brain that helps us distinguish ourselves and others. The disturbance in that part of the brain causes a person to create a human shadow as told above. This may be the explanation behind the apparition of ghostly shadows that people report.

# *Carbon monoxide [saurce]() In 1912, a family moved into a relatively large house but unfortunately the house was a haunted haunted house. In the house there will sometimes be slamming doors, self-propelled furniture, and footsteps in an empty room. At night, a pair of men and women will be seen standing next to the bed and then vanishing just like that. As time goes by, the plants in the house begin to wilt. It was noticed that there was a fireplace leak in the house. The fireplace that was supposed to throw the smoke residue into the chimney instead led it back to the house. In the end it is known that the family suffered from Carbon Monoxide (CO) poisoning.

Carbon Monoxide itself is a very invisible gas and odorless smell. This gas will cause a person lack of oxygen. This lack of oxygen makes a person limp, nausea, dizziness, hallucinations, until the end of death. This hallucinations suffered by the family above. A similar case also occurred in 2005, when a woman reported the phenomenon of ghost sightings in her bathroom that turned out to be a water heater leak, making the house full of Carbon Monoxide.

# * Sleep Paralysis [saurce]() Sleep paralysis (sleep paralysis) or better known as the phenomenon of overindulgence is an incident where when you wake up at night, you can not move at all, can not make a sound, all you can do is lay fear with your eyes open. Events like these are often associated with demons or ghosts.

In reality that is simply not true because there is a scientific explanation behind this. The phenomenon of "demonic devil" or sleep paralysis actually occurs when our mind and body are not synchronized. Usually when a person sleeps, their body and mind will unconsciously slowly relax until they fall asleep but sometimes their minds remain conscious, this is what causes them can not move their bodies. This often happens when a person starts to wake up or enter a sleep stage known as REM sleep (Rapid Eye Movement).

Then what about the apparition of ghosts seen when paralysis occurs? The apparition is actually a hallucination that occurs because the fear and the mind are not fully conscious either because of sleepiness when awake or feeling tired while asleep.

'* Infrasonic

saurce
Each sound has their own frequency and the human ear can hear sounds with a frequency of 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz. Sound with a frequency less than 20 Hz is known as infrasound or infrasound. Although we can not hear it but we can feel it. In fact, many of us are quite sensitive to this infrasound sound.

Infrasonics itself can be created from natural phenomena such as wind, climate, and also our household appliances. The horrible thing is that infrasound can cause strange influences, ranging from nausea, excessive fear, anxiety, goosebumps, to madness. Just as the human eye is also affected by the frequency around us, an infrasonic approaching 20 Hz can cause the human eye to vibrate which ultimately leads a person to believe he sees a ghost sighting when in reality it is not.

# * The reason Psychology [saurce]() Apparently there are quite a lot of explanations about the phenomenon of phantom sightings. Loyd Auerbach, the ghost hunter and author of the apparel-related book has been investigating for 30 years. But he admits that most of the reported ghost sightings can be explained scientifically.

He said that usually the appearance of ghosts is just for psychological reasons alone. Those who reported seeing ghost sightings were in too sensitive conditions, either out of fear, TV shows, depression, and so on. The human mind is amazing, especially when one is in such a condition only with relatively light stimuli they can create their own hallucinations.
