RE: Central Park MUSHROOM HUNT with Gary Lincoff - YES, you can EAT 'em too, if you DARE...!

yes, definitely been coming across more and more great foraging posts on steemit! was about to comment on @jimithyashford's about the black-staining polypore but you had already commented what I would have added! lol

btw, you too have a bunch of really interesting posts! spruce tree sorbet, pine pollen cookies... following you now as well! :)

Thanks for checking out my posts. I do eat wild food pretty regularly. It's pretty handy having a yard full of weeds and trees I can eat, lol. I've got quite few posts to finish writing about mushrooms that I have eaten. One that I had fun writing - and eating - about was the Insidious Gomphidius. It is one non-edible-looking mushroom, lol! I'm looking forward to reading more about your foraging, too!

Another great post, the Insidious Gomphidius really is one slimy looking mushroom, looks like the inside of a mussel or something! lol Look forward to seeing some of your other posts of mushrooms you've eaten as well! :)

I thought you might like seeing that mess of a mushroom! I think it is safe from most mushroom foragers, lol. I'm looking forward to it coming up again this fall. It's either mycorhizzal on my conifers or parasitic on the mycorhizzal Slippery Jacks. Either way, now that I have it in my yard, it should be a regular. Quite an oddball mushroom!

hmm.. I wonder how Gomphidius glutinosus might taste with a bit of Marinara sauce! lol Interesting how they also become "cannibals" to the Slippery Jacks. That's definitely quite Insidious!

Those mushroom folks know how to name a fungus, lol! Insidious, indeed! I'm going to try marinating them in something if they show themselves this fall.
