  1. Measure, read electric current in an ammeter and the make a circuit series
  2. Measure, read electric voltage in a voltmeter and the make a circuit parallel

An electric current is a flow of electric charge. In electric circuits this charge is often carried by moving electrons in a wire. It can also be carried by ions in an electrolyte, or by both ions and electrons such as in an ionised gas (plasma). Source

1. An Ammeter

An ammeter is :
An instrument used to measure current passing through a branch point or another part of a network.

An ammeter (from Ampere Meter) is a measuring instrument used to measure the current in a circuit. Electric currents are measured in amperes (A), hence the name. Source

The unit of current is Ampere ( A )

2. Voltmeter

What is the voltmeter ?
An instrument used to measure the voltage across a load in a circuit.

A voltmeter is an instrument used for measuring electrical potential difference between two points in an electric circuit. Analog voltmeters move a pointer across a scale in proportion to the voltage of the circuit; digital voltmeters give a numerical display of voltage by use of an analog to digital converter. Source
