SEEING COLORS FOR THE FIRST TIME

in #science8 years ago (edited)

To most of us seeing colors in something normal. But there are some people that can't see colors in way the most people can.

About 8% of men and 0.5% of women are colorblind. Of course, not all forms of color blindness are the same. For example, people with deuteranopia can't even see red and "hot" colors, such as orange, purple, rose and similar colors, while people with protonopia recognize red as some kind of olive-colored or grayish and purple, depending on the person to the person.

This color recognition condition is inborn and it is consider to be incurable, but thanks to the unique invention of special glasses, the colorblind people can finally reveal what is quite normal to us.

Company EnChroma invented special glasses that enable colorblind people to see colors sorrounding them for the first time.

Their glasses began their way of development as a computer simulation. After EnChroma team enter the data from the latest genetic research and study of photopigmentation, optics and physical causes of color discovery into their computer simulation, they created the first ideas to create special glasses for colorblind people. EnChroma team realized that the biggest challenge was to create the appropriate photo filter on the glasses to target special photo pigments. After months of experimenting, researchers in this company have discovered how to make a multi-pigmentation optical filter.

The EnChrome optical lens separates the functions of eye sockets that are responsible for seeing green and red, which is known to be one of the main causes of colorblindes, intertwining the functions of the same eyelids and disabling the proper detection of certain colors.

The amazement and happiness of the people who see the colors for the first time is wonderful to see. Here are some of reactions:
