The Heart Nebula (IC 1805) is an emission nebula located at an approximate distance of 7,500 light years from Earth, in the constellation Cassiopeia. It is forms a famous complex known as the Heart and Soul.
The Heart has a shape that resembles a heart symbol. The Soul is sometimes known as the Embryo Nebula or IC 1848, which is a designation used for the open star cluster embedded within the nebula.
Both nebulae shine bright in red light due to the emission of that specific colour of light by the excited nearby hydrogen gas. The nebulae form a large star-forming complex in the Perseus Arm of the Milky Way. The clusters found in the region belong to the Cas OB6 association.
The Heart and Soul region is barely visible in small telescopes and best seen photographically. It is a popular target for astrophotographers.
I made this picture the DSLR camera a Canon 400D modified. I used the Canon lens 2,8/200. I used the filter H alpha of 12.5 nm. The Exposure took me 5 hours. I processed the Data subsequently in Zoner 18.
