HoloLens are an independent system and work with their own 3D version of windows 10. Harry Shum, executive vice president of the Artificial Intelligence and Research Group, announced at the annual CVPR computer vision event that the next version of HoloLens would be manufactured with a new coprocessor. The new HPU will allow HoloLens to do the kind of deep learning processing that typically is done only in the cloud.

HoloLens will also benefit from the addition of AI silicon, which will increase the safety of all users. Microsoft is the leader in the AR/MR market and with this announcement wants to continue the lidership. With this new design, they will seek to offer their users the possibility of reducing latency, communication costs and the burden of services in the cloud.
