Vaccine Exemptions Are On The Rise In Numerous States

in #science8 years ago (edited)

In the U.S. it's alleged that overall fewer individuals and families have been choosing to opt out of school-mandated immunizations. But there is mention of an increase in numerous states where individuals and families are opting out for religious or other philosophical reasons (non-medical exemptions), according to CDC data.

In New Jersey alone, the number of state religious exemptions was seen to more than double for primary school children within just a 6 year period. And the growing trend of those choosing to opt-out has many health officials, and others in the community worried.

The CDC data shows a sharp spike in nonmedical exemptions between 2013-2014, and since then they've fallen slightly, while a few others are increasing. Last year, it is estimated that at least 72,000 kindergartners weren't vaccinated in the U.S. and after California passed rules limiting personal belief exemptions, they too saw a drop in non-medical exemptions.

What states are increasing in non-medical exemptions:

Florida, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, and Virginia.

Many lawmakers in these states, like in Iowa, are now seeking to pass laws that prohibit non-medical vaccination exemptions. There have also been efforts to pass laws that introduce rules to have parents forcibly re-educated if they seek to have their child receive a non-medical vaccine exemption.

The Debate

Those who are in favor of forced vaccinations say that everyone should have to be subjected to the immunization schedules because if they aren't then they are endangering others in the community. And yet, there are many passionate individuals (a lot of nurses and doctors included) who still advocate for a more thoughtful and deliberate approach with immunizations, rather than a must-accept-them-all-without-question sort of mindset.

The CDC has received a great deal of criticism, and allegations surrounding fraud and corruption. And it is because of their controversial activity that many other parents are now skeptical about believing their statements without question.

The issue really is a hot-button topic for many, and it feels as though those who are in favor of forced vaccinations feel that everyone should accept every vaccine without question and submit to the state's forcible guidelines about how those vaccines should be administered; otherwise you are a vaccine science denying nutcase.

Those who hear anyone question vaccinations will automatically assume that they are anti-vaccination science overall, but for many who question vaccines that simply isn't the case. There are individuals who do agree with and believe in vaccination science in an of itself, but that doesn't mean they have to believe that all vaccinations, in all quantities, are safe for all people. There are a lot of parents who care deeply about their children and they spend countless hours doing research into the ingredients that go into vaccines and more surrounding the topic, so I think it's unfair to demonize them all as being ignorant simply because they make the decision to opt-out. I am not a doctor so you definitely shouldn't take what I have to say as any sort of medical advice. This is a decision which should be made between the individual and their personal healthcare practitioner.

I believe that coercion and force, other than in self defense, is fundamentally immoral. It is a direct and blatant violation of the second greatest commandment, "Love your neighbor as yourself." No one, especially including state actors, has the right to touch my children against my will.

If you can't actively "love" me and mine, you ought to at least be able to leave me alone, and I will accord you the same courtesy. I can make at least as good an argument, if not better, that vaccinated children are more likely to be shedding dangerous pathogens and endangering my healthy children.

Whether or not to vaccinate my children is nobody's business by mine. 😄😇😄

@creatr

thanks for your input :)

I really look to see where this whole topic is going to go over the next few years as it is building in popularity for good or for worse and sure hope that clarity and truth shall rise to the surface of the mess going around this. Thank you for the informative article, keep on taking good care.

All for one and one for all! Namaste :)

There is a lot more reason to doubt the official narrative than believe it. This is rapidly approaching a point where the public demands accountability and change from the people making the rules.

We don't live in the USA but if you don't get your children vaccinated they can't attend kindergarten or school, and if you don't send your kids to school you get fined. You can apply for home schooling. It freaks people out so they just vaccinate. Parent's aren't told a lot of information and when a Doctor and nurse you trust is telling you to do it for the health of your kids you don't really think twice.

Don't you live in New Zealand? - That isn't the case in NZ.

Yes I do
Everytime we enroll the kids in kindergarten or school we have been asked for certificate of vaccination and told in we don't have it they can't attend school.
Then your told by the government if they don't go to school they will fine you.

They can say that, but legally they can't enforce it, they are bluffing...

In 2012, the NZ government made a decision that it would not link children’s vaccinations to either welfare payments or childcare access. Please see the press release: Immunisation decision “Important victory for human rights” (October 26, 2012) at this link http://www.noforcedvaccines.org/press-releases/ for details.

It sucks that the CDC has zero credibility= We The People have no trustworthy source for unbiased information on the issue.

This is a threat to bill gates profit margins and depopulation agenda...

If polio was wiped out, then how is it coming back?

Sorry, I didn't notice the line break. I must have been overwhelmed by the ignorance expressed in your brief, but vitriolic tirade against thinking, informed people.

He seems even angrier than @telos.

I used to be very angry myself. The more I learn, the less angry I get.

You clearly do have much against me, and people like me who bother to educate ourselves. If your comment, quoted below, as you seem to have forgotten, is not a statement against my ideas of health and liberty, I am unsure what would be.

"you people are out of your fucking minds
you can keep you and your diseased kids away from me and mine then
we wiped out polio because of vaccines
nasty shit is coming back because of this ignorant bullshit and those who CANT be vaccinated are at risk because of you and your bullshit beliefs." @icallbs.

thanks for taking the time to read the post.. :)

Oh, Polio! Did you know the Polio vaccines were actually weaponized with cancer-causing monkey viruses that were being experimented on in order to develop biological weapon to kill Fidel Castro? That's why there was such a peculiar spike in cancer rates among people now in their 50s+ when it used to be almost non-existent. The disease wasn't meant for the American people, but they DID know about it and administered the vaccines anyway, while subsequently firing the scientist who sounded the alarm on contamination.

It's actually a really scandalous and interesting story. "Dr. Mary's Monkey" by Edward Haslam provides an incredibly well-researched account (numerous references to original source documents at the end of every chapter, and the narrative is essentially laid out like the presentation of a court case). If you truly wish to have an informed opinion (instead of just AN opinion) I would definitely recommend starting your research there.

Also: in theory, if there is actually a benefit to the vaccines you have given your children, vulnerability to UN-vaccinated children is a mathematically unsound argument. Because what then was the point of the vaccine? I would probably stop using it, if I were you. The people who told you to defy your own reasoning ability in this manner are turning a multi-trillion dollar profit on the chemicals in question. Just saying. It doesn't hold water.
