I wasn't planning on re-publishing so soon, but we are saddened to learn of the passing of Dr. Stephen William Hawking. Despite being diagnosed with a debilitating disease at the age of 21, and being given two years to live, Dr. Hawking instead went on to be one of the most brilliant and respected minds in physics. Despite losing his ability to speak, he continued to teach and lecture. His book, A Brief History of Time, became a best-seller around the world. Hawking was also known of his sense of humor, having appeared as himself on hit TV shows Star Trek and The Simpsons.
The scientific community today will no doubt mourn this great loss.
A real shame. Now you can rest in peace. Shines in the stars Stephen Hawking.
