Citizen science is a great way to involve children and adults in the discovery of nature and contributing to scientific research and conservation. Project FeederWatch through Cornell University is a great way to get involved in citizen science. You can learn more at the Project FeederWatch website.
I typically watch birds on Saturday and Sunday. This is my report for 23-24 December 2017.

Sunday
When I woke up Sunday, the bird feeder area was covered with snow.
Original Photo
Then the day was greeted with a colorful sunrise.

A Cooper's Hawk was nearby my bird feeders for most of the day. This kept the birds away. Pictures of the hawk sitting in the tree came out too dark to post.
Bird Counts
Counts for Current Period
My bird counts for the two-day period 23-24 December 2017.

Your cardinal shots are especially gorgeous! Really captured the personality of the bird in the green background shot.
Some high quality and really amazing shots wonderful
Realy very beautiful pictures and videos, I enjoyed watching them)
Thank you! I am glad you enjoyed viewing them.
Have a wonderful week!
Steem on,
Mike
Mientras la lluvia cae él cardenal del norte se alimenta, junto a sus amigos, muy hermoso color, él de esta ave.
Es bueno ver como hay personas de buen corazón que le dan la oportunidad de alimentar a estás aves, con estos comederos.
Saludos @etcmike.
Thank you! The Northern Cardinal is very photogenic.
The snow falling in the video was just an added bonus.
I always appreciate your support!
Have a fantastic week!
Steem on,
Mike
Great to get people, especially kids involved with bird counts and feeding stations. Birds need to be protected for their valve to the environment and their inspiration to us.
very beautiful birds pictures there i like it
These kind of projects is just what we need, everyone should learn scientific method and we'll learn and progress so much faster...
The best part is that all the data collected goes into a database and is available to researchers for years to come. During the off-season (non-FeederWatch season) I report on some of the findings from the researchers.
Steem on,
Mike
Great, we're gonna take collaborations to a whole new level in 2018... when will the database be on a Blockchain? ;)
I am sure it will be on a blockchain one day. But I am not aware of any plans Cornell University has for incorporating a blockchain at this time.
When you signup at their website, they have an interface that lets you explore the data.
Mike
Ok cool. gonna check it out! :)
If a person has talent in photo editing.. definitely they already have a great talent.. to keep.. have a wonderful day.
En Colombia tenemos un cardinalidae de pico claro, esta especie no la conocía. Maravilloso ejemplar.
¡Gracias!
No he visto un cardialidae claro. ¿Tienes una foto?
¡Ten una maravillosa semana!
Steem on,
Mike
No, I said a peak-white cardinalidae, very common in the upper Guajira, in northern Colombia. the species is cardinalis phoenicius.
But I have a photo of a Chechena (opistothocomus hoazin) they are very noisy.
Cuando viaje a la Guajira buscare el cardenal de pico claro.
Thank you for posting a picture. My Spanish translation (Google translator) does not always give me the best translation.
Have a wonderful day!

Mike
