The Art Of Manipulation: Control People To Get What You Want

in #science7 years ago (edited)

If you've ever been influenced by a seller that you really wanted a product, or made decisions that seemed completely out of your character, then you've probably had an idea planted in your mind. Here's how it's done.

If you've seen the film Inception, you might think that planting an idea in someone's mind is a tough thing to do. Well, It's not. It's ridiculously simple and it's tough to dodge.

Reverse psychology is a technique where you get somebody to do something you want by recommending that they do the opposite.

A common form of this technique is to forbid an action.: when you say 'do not X' you are also implanting the idea to do X.

Reverse psychology has become a huge platitude. Especially when the film Jumanji came out. The problem is that most people use at reverse psychology in a *very simplistic approach*. Sometimes people fall in passive-aggressive when they try to use reverse psychology, For example, you'd say "I really don't care if you risk your life doing this"

Leave everything you know behind and Let's start from scratch.

If you're going to use reverse psychology in your favor, you need to be "crafty".

Always try to present the alternative without *placing any blame*. Make him (or her) consider the alternative. This is how reverse psychology can be powerful, so long as you say it like you mean it.

The deepest need people have is the sense of control.

This is why reverse psychology works!

People who feel their sense of control is being taken away will eventually grab it back by not doing what they are asked even if the actions that are clearly against their best interests!

Always Talk Around the idea

It will be tough if you know they're not going to want to do it, so you need to make them believe it was their thought.

Of course, it's much easier said than done. Look at it like you are looking at mystery.

Target a list of clues until the obvious result is the one you desire.

Be patient, Don't rush through your "hints" it will be obvious. Let the thought form naturally in their mind entirely by itself.

You need to be very clever and very subtle, otherwise, it will be too obvious, Also, Avoid saying obvious lies!

With enough space between hits, It won't seem like ''odd behavior''

Undersell

Underselling is probably one of the smoothest and most effective ways to plant an idea. The point is to "act" like you only want ''the best interests for them ''.
