The next big stir around African origins came from an Australian Raymond Dart.
He rather reluctantly found himself in Johannesburg, little more than a very large mining camp in 1923 working for the University of the Witwatersrand at the anatomy department.

As an Australian he was naturally disliked by the local for Australia's part in the Boer Wars two decades earlier.
There was a world of difference from his previous appointment in London and now near the tip of Africa, but he appears to have been the perfect man for a destiny that would make him famous and notorious. He would be one of a very few that could recognize and identify what would soon cross his path. Little did he know it would lead to scorn and a mental breakdown.
His specialty and love was the brain, but there was little of that to be studied in his new appointment and he was forced to study bones.
It was wile visiting Taung in 1924 that his knowledge of brain anatomy would set him on a new course.
What he was shown was presumed to be a fossilized monkey skull, that had been blasted out while collecting limestone.
The block of rock had been kept as a souvenir in the mine managers office.
But it didn't take long for Dart with his expertise in brain anatomy to recognize that this was no ordinary monkey brain molded in the block of rock.
All people who made a change in history must have been abandoned by their societies !
With evidence mounting, it became difficult to dismiss Australopithecus as one of our ancestors, and the idea that we emerged in Africa was finally, deservedly, accepted by the scientific community. Today, the Taung Child is regarded as one of the most significant hominin finds of the previous century.

The word "Australopithecus" means "southern monkey" (from the ancient Greek "australis" - southern and Latin. "Pitekus" - a monkey). The age of discovery was determined at 1 million years. In the skull of Australopithecus, a brain imprint was found. The brain was 520 cm3. The results of the study were published in the 1925 scientific journal Nature. But after the publication of these studies, the scientific world did not see anything human in this skull. Scientists rather thought it was a skull of chimpanzees or gorillas. Darth was only supported by his colleague and director of the Transval Museum in Pretoria - Robert Broum.
Your work is different and i love science
I think your Post is for a big group of people very helpful!
Thx for making this Website for us!
Upvote when your in my opinion @alokkamboj
Insane how much everything has advanced in the past 100 years.
Your work is always different...

great post, thanks for sharing
I always learn new things from your posts and I know this particularly one will be amazing.
Though the information presented here isn't sufficient, I'll try to read this up and grasp the full gist behind this.
I love reading science related articles and evolutionary stuffs - and this even embeds both topics inside, meaning I'll even learn more from it.
Thanks @gavvet for sharing this as you've just provided me a topic to research on tonight.
Happy Steeming
Edit: I've grasped the topic now - Taung Child
War can kill you. killing the next 10 years. our 35 years of war in aceh. all not as beautiful as i imagine. thank you I like your content since I first joined in steemit.
With a bit of luck and hardwork, smart people tend to fulfill their destiny, even if the circumstances are against them,as the same as this man,Thx for the pleasure of his beginning .Salute this man
It is about making you think from a different perspective.
Excellent post good analyses thanks for sharing.
i like your all work sir
have a nice day
Hmm, i dont really understand the meaning at all, that must be one of african history, he must be genius to be at anatomy..
Nice to meet you @gavvet ☺️
Great post dear
Your writing is beautiful.
Is this fiction?
It is thought that Taung Child was attacked and killed by an eagle. Scientists suspect that an eagle has killed Taung Child because the hole marks were at the base of three-year-old eyes.
These signs are similar to those made by sharp claws and beaks of a modern eagle when they attack monkeys in Africa today. Other proofs for the eagle killing hypothesis include the presence of other egg shells and a mix of animal bones near Taung Child's skull. Most of the found bones were obtained from rare animals (theft, rodents, turtles, lizards, crabs, small antelopes and small monkeys) when compared to animal bones in other early human areas. The majority of these small animal bones have similar damage to that made by modern hunting birds.
Interesting... but the holes could also have been made by alien blast pistols or chupacabra :P
Interesting
@gavvet good post .
Good post, please follow back
so this is great...i learnt alot that i didnt know before..thanks :)
postig interesting, may i share the post, you on my blog, thank you
Not bad. I think that is great post. Cause here you wroted some potential eveluation about Austrilian's what I don't know. Thanks you so much for your valuable content and potential thinking about Austrilian's.
great to share

wtf!
thanks information. You give us 100 years' notice. Thank you
Well man, this is something you don't see everyday... a post like yours on Steemit.
A breathe of fresh air.... the skull is the "missing link"... or... it can also be ALIEN! :P
Joke's aside, cool post, you got yourself a new follower.
@gavvet. The Taung skull in my own personal opinion belongs to simian like creatures like a monkey and not to a human being as speculated by Dart.
reminds me of the past ,,, a period where we are full of unshakable, unpolluted, peaceful village,
i've got a normal monkey brain molded in a block of rock

Fascinating, I was unaware that an Australian had discovered the Taung child. Hi from South Africa, by the way
very nice profile ! Followed.
An interesting story indeed. I admire the fact that though he was neglected by many, he became a famous man for what he have passion for. There is a lesson from this story and the lesson is "don't allow rejection stop you from achieving your dream". Thanks for sharing this post.
Good article
This history is fascinating, how did you come to know all this?

This time for Africa..
It's takes specialisation to point out the big difference no one noticed, great article.
After seeing that head it is difficult to determine if it was ape or human remains. 🐓🐓
Excellent your scientific publications, this perspective that you give to the evolution I like ...
Greetings from a Biologist, from Venezuela
GAVVET, I HAVE BEEN READING YOUR POSTS, BUT I RARELY HAVE ANYTHING TO SAY EXCEPT THAT I AM TOTALLY IMPRESSED.
I MEAN, FOR A PERSON THIS BIG, A PERSON WHO CAN SIMPLY SAY GOOD MORNING AND GET UPVOTES, FOR A WHALE LIKE YOU, YOU ARE DOING AN AWESOME JOB WITH YOUR CONTENTS. THE POSTS ARE VERY WELL NARROWED DOWN TO SURGING ISSUES GOING ON AROUND THE WORLD AND THEY ARE FRIGGING INFORMATIVE.
YOU FOUND YOUR NICHE AND YOU ARE STICKING TO IT. YOU HAVE THE POWER BUT STILL, YOU TAKE TIME OUT TO RESEARCH YOUR EVERY POST AND REEL OUT THE BEST. I AM BLOWN AWAY, I MUST SAY.
I HOPE THAT WHEN I DO GET TO THE PLACE I WANNA BE, I CAN REALLY REMEMBER WHERE I AM COMING FROM.
Tengo poco conocimiento de este descubrimiento. ¡Pero me gusto saber más! Me gustaria seguir viendo post como este, así que suerte.
