SpaceX: Elon Musk's plan to colonize Mars

Elon Musk definitely has his eyes turned to Mars for several years and his objective is clear, he wants SpaceX to be the company that will be the first to allow man to colonize Mars, but more globally the solar system.

It is no longer a secret to anyone, Elon Musk's ambition is to "make humans a multi-planetary species". To achieve this, the businessman has already developed reusable rockets via his company SpaceX, but he knows that this will not be enough to consider the colonization of the red planet.

This is good, Elon Musk has a plan to colonize Mars!
As the journey is to last several months and the installation is probably "definitive" or at least several years, it is obvious that the spartan comfort of the current space stations will not be suitable for the greatest number. The businessman intends to give a style more "luxury cruise" to the space conquest. He wants to build huge spaceships that have never been created by man until now, because he was confronted with the limit of the enviable weight in space with a single pitcher, where each bolt counts ...

Elon Musk promises: "There will be movies, reading rooms and a restaurant. It will be really good to go there. You will have a great time! ". A gym and plenty of entertainment will be at the rendezvous of the Martian trip. In his project, the businessman seems to bring a lot of cosmetics to make this adventure more joyful than the epics in the ISS. An important point because the ultimate goal is a colony of one million inhabitants, so it will take more than balls of water floating in weightlessness and a few songs on the guitar to convince as many humans to undertake this journey .

The biggest launcher ever created by man will be necessary
There is, however, a size barrier and as always, it is money. Currently such a trip to Mars would cost $ 10 billion per person. A price that few space agencies are willing to pay. Elon Musk wants to lower this tariff to $ 200,000 per settler. To do this, the only option is to build a new kind of ship, at least three times bigger than the biggest current rocket and powered by 48 Raptor engines. A project made possible thanks to SpaceX, because it will be possible to create a vast convoy in space, with hundreds of settlers.

Elton Musk's 10,500-ton beast would therefore have a greater capacity reducing the cost per human, but above all it would become the link between Earth and Mars. It would therefore no longer be necessary in the future to systematically send back a rocket from Earth, just huge reusable cargo ships.

Still, colonization will not be so simple and many questions remain unanswered. Elon Musk is aware of this, he said: "If we could find a way to warm the temperature on Mars, we could recreate a thick atmosphere but also liquid oceans". The absence of atmosphere and water is indeed a major problem, which will have to be considered for the feasibility of this new step of man in the history of the conquest of space. So the problem is not to go to Mars, but rather to stay there ...

If this project were to happen, would you be willing to move to Mars?

Sort:

Mars?
My advice to Musk is - shove it up Uranus.

Haha!.
What a perfect comment !.

Even if Mars were a "planet" that we could land on, it would be ridiculous to think that we would need to or even want to colonize another planet before ever attempting to live on the moon. Or more importantly, fixing real problems on Earth. Like the fact that many people still think the Earth is a ball.

I find it interesting how he is pushing for scientific progress that in general benefits mankind and yet we are so focused on the minute details of people's tweets that it is international headlines -_-;
