Cockroaches are not only going to survive the human species, they are also here long before us.

According to a study by the Center for Molecular Biology and Evolution at the University of Oxford, cockroaches were already walking the surface of the planet 235 million years ago, when the supercontinent Pangaea still existed.

... based on the complete mitochondrial genomes of 119 cockroach species. Divergence dating analyses indicated that the last common ancestor of all extant cockroaches appeared ∼235 million years ago, approximately 95 million years prior to the appearance of fossils that can be assigned to extant families, and before the breakup of Pangaea began.

It is amazing how resistant these small insects are, that many people dislike ;) . But it seems that thanks to them, scientists can find out many things about the history of our planet at the time when there was only one continent and what happened when it was divided thanks to this study.

We reconstructed the geographic ranges of ancestral cockroaches and found tentative support for vicariance through plate tectonics within and between several major lineages. We also found evidence of transoceanic dispersal in lineages found across the Australian, Indo-Malayan, African, and Madagascan regions. Our analyses provide evidence that both vicariance and dispersal have played important roles in shaping the distribution and diversity of these insects.

So, as I said in my title, cockroaches are not only going to survive the human species, they are also here long before us and they are going to help us learn more about the history of our planet.

Here is the "Abstract" of the study

where can I buy cockroach tokens to survive this nuclear crash?

... buy cockroach tokens ...

hahahaha I need some too XD

You could literally nuke them and they would be just fine because they keep reproducing at such pace that even if some individuals got mutations and died there would still be more than enough cockroaches that would survive. They are amazing creatures when you think about them :)

The real "super" animals XD ;)

The same with ants. (but much nicer!)

Just another day in their history, when the last T-rex hit the deck, when the last woolly mammoth hit the deck.

..and when we hit the deck.......just another day...

just another day...

hahahaha true!!!! XD will be like "here we go again" ;)

Impressive undestructable creatures, but still... i realy don't like them. I love animals but i don't like 95% of insects, yea i know they are an important part in nature. But still :D

hahahah was waiting for the first to say something like that ;) You won! XD I honestly take them with the hands even ... we played with insects in Cuba a lot when we were kids (too hot, a lot of them)

... but I am afraid of reptiles for example ;)

Hihi, winner winner chicken dinner :D

Yea reptiles are creepy aswell, due to their eyes and some other "effects"
It's damn impressive, that most people like animals with fur and most people dont like insects or reptiles. Must be an ancient fear or something like that.

hmmmm I smell some "reptilians and illuminatinsect" old conspiracy here!

😖

Not only will they survive us but also it seems that they will win if they fight with you XD

So you’re saying I should befriend them?? I will be sharing a beach bungalow again with them soon. So far we always co-existed, but not sure of I manage to be friends with them 😆

Best way to be with them XD
