Plants of Interior Alaska
This summer I traveled around interior Alaska collecting plant ecology data for the National Ecological Observatory Network. This series is compiled of some of the photos I took of plants over the past few months. Note that photos were taken with sometimes ID in mind but, also sometimes aesthetic.
Pedicularis sp.
Pedicularis, common name 'lousewort', is a genus in the Scrophulariaceae family, the same as snapdragons. They are a wildflower that is in bloom in the Alaska interior from late June through early August. There are many varieties - distinguished by their flower color, flower growth form, leaf form, and detailed plant physiology observations. Here are some specimens that I captured on camera this season.
