Despite all the research efforts carried out around the world, Alzheimer's disease is still unknown, although it is true that great advances have been made, we still do not know its causes and how to combat this disease that affects millions of people in the world, more than 5 million of them in the United States.

In previous research, it was found that people with Alzheimer's tend to speak slower than normal and pause more frequently during their conversations, which is why scientists have had telephone conversations with these patients that have been recorded to be able to study them later.
En anteriores investigaciones se pudo constatar que las personas afectadas de Alzheimer tienden a hablar más lento de lo normal y hacer pausas más frecuentemente durante sus conversaciones, por ello los científicos han mantenido conversaciones telefónicas con estos pacientes que ha sido grabadas para poder estudiarlas posteriormente.

In this new study, a group of Japanese scientists have replaced the doctors who analyzed these conversations with various Machine-Learning algorithms to try to identify these symptoms as early as possible and to be able to apply specific treatments to the affected people.
En este nuevo estudio un grupo de científicos japoneses han sustituido a los doctores que analizaban estas conversaciones por varios algoritmos de Machine-Learning para intentar identificar estos síntomas lo más prematuramente posible y poder aplicar tratamientos específicos a las personas afectadas.
Initially, 3 Machine-Learning algorithms were designed that were trained with recorded conversations of people affected by this disease and the results have been very encouraging since not a single false negative was produced, so they have concluded that this technique can be used for detection early Alzheimer's disease.
Inicialmente se diseñaron 3 algoritmos de Machine-Learning que fueron entrenados con conversaciones grabadas de personas afectadas por esta enfermedad y los resultados han sido muy esperanzadores pues no se produjo ni un solo falso negativo por lo que han concluido que esta técnica puede utilizarse para la detección precoz de la enfermedad de Alzheimer.
Previous research has also found that these speech difficulties are one of the earliest symptoms of this disease, as in almost all diseases early detection is very important for their cure, this could be a very good method to detect this disease before it is too late.
Investigaciones previas también han constatado que estas dificultades en el habla son uno de los síntomas más tempranos de esta enfermedad, como quiera que en casi todas las enfermedades la detección precoz es muy importante para su curación este podría ser un muy buen método para detectar esta enfermedad antes de que sea demasiado tarde.
According to its creators, it is expected that in the long term this technique could be used automatically and remotely to detect possible patients through their mobile phone, this would reduce the stress of having to undergo clinical screening tests which would reduce the anxiety of patients and it would increase the effectiveness of diagnoses.
Según sus creadores se espera que a largo plazo esta técnica podría ser utilizada automática y remotamente para detectar posibles pacientes a través de su teléfono móvil, esto reduciría el estres de tener que someterse a pruebas clínicas de detección lo que reduciría la ansiedad de los pacientes y aumentaría la eficacia de los diagnósticos.
