Yes you've heard right.
The future is here and I think it's crazy. Today I read in an article, (links at the end), that the first brain implant has been used to boost memory in a 20 people volunteer group by up to 30 %. Crazy ! Right ?
So what they did was to implant electrodes into a brain so they could stimulate those parts in the subjects' brains that are responsible for memory. Now those electrodes would send small electrical pulses that would imitate regular brain waves in the hippocampus.
The implications of this achievement are mind breaking. It also begs the question if we should one day commercialize such technology and sell it so people could boost their performance ? Would that make any achievement meaningless ? Mind-control is no-brainer if you think about the danger and weaponization of such a technology. Although mind-control has been studied enough I think ....

It is true that there is constantly a search that seems infinite about something to go, or what to find. The human being has been engaged and has limited your possibilities by focusing on just one type of development. I am not trying to deny that a higher performance of the brain would be more advantageous, but there are also other parts of our being that we must develop.
You're right, although those capacities are important and have advanced our civilization, they should not exceed our moral capabilities, which becomes increasingly difficult. But they also make our moral standards grow. Just imagine everyone being savages and having nukes :P
This would be grotesque, haha. Yes, morality is important, beautiful science does not guarantee it, but when science and morals come together the human being really looks like a beautiful being!
beautiful !
