Hello all steemians and science lover. Now i want to share a simple experiment about goldfish breathing. The purpose of this experiment is to know the temperature change of hot water media to open & close the fish goldfish operculum which indirectly want to know the respiration rate of the fish.
Temperature influence to goldfish breathing
Fish in the true sense is a vertebrate living creature / animal that during its life in water, breathe with gills, cold-blooded, scaly / not, and finned (paired and single). Fish are animals that are poikilothermic, their body temperature follows the temperature of the environment. For aquatic animals, the temperature of the water medium is a limiting factor, therefore a change in the temperature of the water medium affects dissolved oxygen content, which will result in the [respiratory rate](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Respiratory_rate) and metabolic rate of the aquatic animal.
Goldfish can be classified by taxonomy :
Phylum : Chordata
Class : Pisces
Ordo : Ostariophysi
Family : Cyprinidae
Genus : Cyprinus
Species : Cyprinus carpio L
What You Need
- 2 glasses of 250 ml
- The timer (stop watch / clock)
- Ice Cube
- Small fishing nets
- Goldfish in an aquarium
- Label
- Thermometer
What do you have to do
Fill the two glasses with aquarium water and use the net to move goldfish. Label one glass of chemicals with test labels and glass others with control labels.
Use a thermometer to measure the water temperature of both glasses.
Look at the gills of the fish. The gill cover opens and closes when the fish breathe. Calculate the number of times the gill cover opens for one minute.
Repeat the third step twice and record your data.
Gradually take a piece of ice (small) and put it into a glass experiment until the thermometer shows 10 ° C below the temperature.
Conclusion
From experiments conducted it can be concluded that the temperature greatly affects the opening of the operculum which means the rate of respiration of the fish and also affect the rate of metabolism in fish. It is true that fish are animals that are poikilothermic, ie their body temperature follows the temperature of the environment but the fish can not directly adjust to the environment, it takes time gradually for the fish to adjust.

Wow! Same with the frogs when you put them on a warmer pot. This post will be featured in my blog. Thanks a lot! You're doing great!
Thanks so much @steemitdigest for your support. Actually we can also use others fish..maybe the gold fish operculum is easy to observe.
