In commemoration of the 30th International Day of Asteroids and Meteorites, which was celebrated by the United Nations in 2015, the University Meteorological Museum in Agadir commemorated the 109-year meteorological explosion in the Siberian region of Tengoska, the largest cosmic explosion in modern history. .
This day was not only in the city of Agadir, but in 900 points on Earth distributed in 170 countries across the world, they chose to co-ordinate this day to educate the newcomers in the astronomical field and educate citizens about the potential danger to the planet that asteroids can form.
The scientific meeting, which was attended by researchers in astronomy from Morocco and America, students, professors and representatives of associations interested in astronomy and scientific clubs and the general visitor, through the expert meteorologist Abderrahmane Abhi, in a lecture called "to protect the earth from deadly asteroids," concern about the fate of the land of danger These asteroids are likely to hit Earth in the next few years, especially as the number of asteroids passing near the Earth increases.
He explained that this is due to the fact that the Earth is located in the danger zone because of the millions of asteroids that hover around in the "asteroid belt" in the orbit between Mars and Saturn, and that the next hundred years may witness a disaster with the disappearance of human civilization, as happened 65 million years ago and cause In the extinction of dinosaurs, but this time with humans; these will destroy the asteroids on entire cities, or even on the entire world civilization.
Professor of astronomy, author of the book "Meteorites: Pearls of the Moroccan Desert", spoke in his intervention in this scientific meeting, about the types of asteroids, which is the billionaires, but the 300 thousand species are under the control of the human, providing that there are asteroids ordinary, Earth orbit (les astéroides géocroiseurs) and other deadly (Les asteroides tueurs).
He referred to the model of an apophis, which would be visible to the naked eye in 2029, and that it had a destructive power that could remove a large city and its suburbs. He also talked about the asteroid that struck Russia 109 years ago and caused the disappearance of an entire forest.
Speaking about Morocco, Ibhi said that Morocco had already suffered the fall of asteroids in three regions of Amelcil, including a 100-meter asteroid that fell 35 million years ago and behind a Nizik pit called Akudal, as well as the two wells of Esli and Tslet, discovered by Moroccan researchers. Scientific work.
In the context of his research, the meteorologist said that a Moroccan researcher who prepared his thesis in astronomy between the University of Ibn Zahr and the University of Ferrara of Italy discovered in his research that the stone tools that stone man used in the area of Amelchel and its surroundings were absent for the period following the fall of the asteroid In the region, which concluded that the fall caused the disappearance of man in that area for a period, which makes the subject more dangerous than desertification or other environmental issues that attract the attention of the media.
To approximate the magnitude of the destructive force that these asteroids can cause if they fall on the planet, the expert said the asteroid that landed in Morocco 35 million years ago exceeds the force of 75 nuclear bombs of the type that fell on Hiroshima.
In his lecture, Dr. Ebhi did not miss the means currently available to protect the earth from the danger of asteroids, which are expensive means offered by scientific laboratories, and can not be implemented if governments in the world do not invest in scientific research.
For his part, Dr. Fuad Khairy, in his intervention in the same scientific meeting, spoke about the meteorological samples found at the University Meteorological Museum in Agadir, and the separation of the advantages of each sample and its characteristics and origin.
A visit was also organized to see these samples closely and to touch them, and to watch a documentary on meteorites and asteroids performed by a French-German cultural channel, in cooperation with the University Meteorological Museum. A discussion was opened between experts and all interested parties to answer the questions of those present and simplify the scientific concepts of all citizens.
