Yeah, we are worthless in front of the vast Universe. As I said in the article:

now you can speculate how unimportant we are

Even a small disturbance in our galaxy can make us extinct.

But still we are trying to find it. New theories are being proposed and we are trying to experimentally check them.

Experiments are going on for teleportation, worm-holes, time-machines. And we are advancing.

Recently, the Nobel laureates in Physics have found strange new states of matter.

So scientific research will go on until we become extinct. :D
