Is the universe accelerating or decelerating? What a stupid question. Everyone knows (since a couple of years), that there is a accelerating expansion of the universe. It must be true, the theory has been awarded by Nobel Prizes. Well, I don’t question the observations, but the conclusions. In my opinion the observations prove the opposite.
First of all, we shall ask ourself, how much of the universe we can see? Can anyone give an answer? No. And I guess, the scientists have no idea.
Let us suggest, we are near the centre of the universe. Could it be possible? Anything is possible. Probable? Not much. But only in such position we shall observe similar results in red shift in all directions. Otherwise, there shall be difference, i.e. possibility to locate the centre of the universe. It is not the case. The more distant “standard candle” (from us!), the higher the velocity.
What force makes the expansion to accelerate? No doubt, the dark energy. No one can see it or prove it. No one can explain, what it is and where does it come from. It is just phenomenon to fit in the theory.
How about the speed of light? Isn’t it limited? What happens, when the expansion of the universe reaches the speed of light? According Einstein, unlimited energy is needed to reach the speed of light. In other words: two most distant points of the universe cannot move from each other with speed equal or higher to speed of light.
But the observation is clear: the more distant universe (from our point of view), the higher the velocity (= red shift). So, what is my explanation? Very simple. Let’s change the scale! The measurement unit is not distance, but time. The distance in the universe is measured in light years. And the most distant objects we can see are billions of light years away. The more distant object, the more in the past we are looking in. So, we can say, the expansion of the universe was billions of years ago higher, than in the closer past.
