RE: How to treat lab mice - My experience

in #science7 years ago

Good evening friend, in advance a warm greeting, I'm from Caracas-Venezuela I do not speak much English, I hope my English translation you can understand, but I think you should take into account this:

A few months ago I read about a dangerous and even deadly disease that is transmitted by the waste of mice and rats. The most common is LEPTOSPIROSIS.
Also the HANTAVIRUS only the rodents of the SIGMODONTINAE sub family that are the reservoirs of the virus and live in rural areas.

DISEASES THAT ARE TRANSMITTED FROM RODENTS TO HUMAN

  1. ENDEMIC EXANTEMATIC TIFUS: Causal agent "RICKETTSIA MOOSERI" transmitted by the fleas "XENOPSILLA CHEOPIS", whose reservoir are rats and mice.

  2. BUBONIC PESTE: It is a Zoonosis especially of rodents and sometimes reaches humans. The bacillus is called "YERSINIA PESTIS" and is transmitted by the flea "XENOPSILLA CHEOPIS" .-

  3. LEPTOSPIROSIS: Transmitted by the urine of rats, dogs and cows. More for rats. Most dogs with responsible owners are vaccinated, we recommend vaccination from 45 days of age, in case of cows it is more difficult. In veterinary in years there were very few cases. Sick animals eliminate for a long time with urine the LEPTOSPIROSIS that is the causative agent with the CANICOLA, ICTEROHEMORRAGICO AND POMONA SERIES.

  4. HANTAVIRUS: Reservoir a field rodent of the sub species "SIGMODONTINAE" .-

  5. FEVER OF RAT BITES: These are two entities:

  • HAVERHILL FEVER: Produced by a bacillus found in the mouths of rats, the "STREPTOBACILLUS MONILIFORMIS" .-

  • THE SODOKU: Produced by the "SPIRILLUM MINUS" .-

  1. THE RABIES: Transmitted to the human being by bites of infected mice.
