RE: MODERN SCIENTIFIC WORLD

in #science6 years ago

Science can provide answers to various questions. It helps us understand the world a bit more deeply each day. And we still have a myriad of questions to ask. But more importantly, science, or rather the application of it, gives us great solutions to some of the most terrifying problems we're dealing with in this modern world. Unfortunately, on the other hand, vicious practices of world's armies and governments led to creations of dangerous weapons. These weapons were created by scientists, and they range from deadly pathogens to nuclear bombs. Hence, there are plenty of negative examples of scientific research, development, and application. However, science itself is neutral - there's no doubt about it in my mind; how we approach it, though, is everything.
And I do partially agree with you. We can solve food problems, we can solve climate change... Maybe not today, but give it a decade or two. Likewise, I'm afraid, people will create even deadlier things; it may be a government, an "evil" corporation, or merely an idiot not knowing what he's doing with a DIY CRISPR kit in his garage. But this coin called science has two sides, and people are always flipping it. Statistically speaking then, we're creating as much mess as we're solving (or even more so). Or perhaps I'm in the wrong. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
